Episode Summary

The perfect British hen night: A fat girl with a tattoo; her drunken friend with those little devil ears, molesting a male stripper, 'L' plates, copious vomiting and of course a stretch limo. But why hire one when you can make your own? Step forward the Top Gear boys who do just that. Once built, they use their stretch limos to ferry the 'stars' to the Brit Awards. On the track, two Ford Mustangs: one tuned by Shelby and the other by Roush. Have the Americans finally built a car that deserves more than pointing and giggling from smug Europeans? Billie Piper shows off her driving skills and her brand new accent as the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car.moreless

  • A funny episode, the challenges are getting more and more ridiculous!

I think they must have given Top Gear a blank cheque this season and just told them to do whatever they like to get viewers. They sure have done a good job.

The boys build their own stretched limos this week, with predictably hilarious results. The best, to my mind, being Hammond's but the funniest being Jeremy's.. James's was pretty funny too, though, with the steering wheel that kept coming off. Jeremy's great escape-esque entry system prompted what was no doubt one of the funniest Top Gear quotes ever:

James May: It's an ingenious solution to a problem that should never have existed in the first place!"

As for the rest of the show, they dont seem to be reviewing as many cars at the moment, which is more of an observation than a complaint. I like what they do in their challenges but i love the car reviews too so I'm not bothered, I still enjoy watching it and that's all that matters. I wasnt a fan of Billie Piper, she just annoyed me a bit. I did like Jeremy's description of her, likening her to the Honda Civic, although i dont think either of them are that good looking...moreless
  • Hilarious

From the moment the episode started I knew it was going to be great. I mean what can go wrong with trying to make a limo out of a regular car? As it turns out quite a lot.

    The best bits:

James getting shot in the nether regions with a paintball.

Jeremy falling over when he gets out of his limo after it hits the stinger

Richard getting soaked because he had a convertable limo.

How embarassed do you think Jamelia was in the back of the limo? I know I certainly would have been.

So another top notch episode of Top Gear. Please hurry up and have another series, this one has been the best yet!moreless
  • The primary task in this weeks episode is to turn a regular plonker of a car into a full on stretch limo.

Simply brilliant! I've been concerned with this season in general for trying too hard to make every episode outrageously memorable. In particular, the scripted nature of their films has been far too apparent. I'm happy to say, however, this one takes the classic formula of banger cars and hilarious challenges and nails it. I was laughing the whole way, great episode to end this shortened season.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (5)

    • Jeremy Clarkson revealed in Series 10 Episode 10, that the reason he did not impose a penalty on Bille Piper for cutting corners during her fast lap, was due to the fact that on the day, she was wearing a see-through top.

    • The number plates of the three limos have consecutive numbers. Richard's is Q641 GFD; James's is Q642 GFD and Jeremy's is Q643 GFD.

    • Jeremy had to reduce the length of his Fiat Panda limo by seven feet, as it was too long to be allowed on public roads.

It did, eventually and inevitably, break into two pieces on the way to the Brit Awards.

    • The average audience figure for this episode was 8 million. At the beginning of the programme the audience was 7.2 million, peaking at 8.6 million.

    • The Brit Awards ceremony is the 'big night out' for the British music industry. The awards are not really taken seriously by anyone other than the British music industry, but are, to all intents and purposes, the most prestigious music awards in Britain.

The lack of credibility for these awards amongst the British public can be due in part, to the fact that the Spice Girls were once given an award for their 'outstanding contribution' to British music.

  • QUOTES (5)

    • Richard Hammond: Some say that he isn't machine-washable. And all his potted plants are called Steve. All we know is he's called the Stig.

    • James May: [using the pulley system in Jeremy's limo] It's an ingenious solution to a problem that should never have existed in the first place.

    • Jeremy Clarkson My guest tonight is attractive, er, she's futuristic and she's from Swindon. So she's sort of like the Honda Civic.

    • James May: You're thinking: 'there goes Captain Slow and I expect he'll do a really good job of turning it into a limousine because, let's face it, he's a bit boring'.

    • Jeremy Clarkson: [referring to the Fiat Panda CLX]: Now the interesting thing about this car is under the bonnet it doesn't have an engine. What you get instead is a small field mouse called Gerald.
