Top of the Pops Saturday

Show Summary

Top Of The Pops Saturday originally broadcast from 11.15pm till 12.00pm as part of The Saturday Show, transmitted live from the studio to rival CiTV's CD:UK. Presented by The Saturday Show presenters Fearne Cotton and Simon Grant. In 2003, The Saturday Show took a break for Dick and Dom in the Bungalow. But the TOTPS part of the show had very high ratings so in September 2003, Fearne Cotton moved to the Star Bar at Top of the Pops Studio to present the spin off show by herself with an extra quarter of an hour taking the final part of what should be the bungalow. In August 2004 with Fearne on holiday, Top of the Pops presenter, Tim Kash filled in and was the next week replaced by Sam and Mark. Sam and Mark were finalists from Pop Idol and proved popular with the show so became permanent presenters along with Fearne. May 2005 saw the show come to an end.moreless

  • The show was underrated.

I don't live in the U.K., but I've watched Top of the Pops a few times and I have to say that I liked it. It was especially good when the Spice Girls were on. That made my day as I got my share of looking at them. I liked the musical performances and the guest bands up until 2000 and beyond. Then the show began a downward spiral. It lost some appeal as MTV became such a super-giant at the time. It basically made Top of the Pops unnecessary to watch. But I will say that it was a good show in the mid-90's to late-90's and it was really entertaining. Thank you.moreless
