Jamie: You should really take time out to see it, it's a great show.
Craig David (Walliams): Oh alright, alright, I'll check my diary, Craig David in the downstairs loo, see if I've got some free time. (takes out his diary and starts flipping through the pages) Making love, making love, making love, making love, making love, making love, making love, MY BIRTHDAY!... making love, making love, making love, mak... love making, making love, making love, CHRISTMAS!!!... making love, making love, making love...
Jamie: Yeah, I think we've got the picture.
Craig: Oh no, hang on, hang on, hang on... (flips another page) oh yeah (chuckles to himself) Making love.
Jamie: We're in the 'Star Bar' with Craig David, Hiya Craig.
Craig (David Walliams): Bo!
Jamie: So, what does Top of the Pops mean to you?
Craig: Well, to be honest with you Jamie, I've never actually seen it... Craig David in the house.
Jamie: Right, but you must... you've been on it, loads of times.
Craig: Yeah, but it is on on a Friday and I'm always busy on a Friday.
Jamie: Oh, right. Why's that?
Craig: Well, I tend to meet a girl on a Monday and take her out on a Tuesday and then I'm making love on a Wednesday and Thursday and Friday.
Jamie: Right... but you could see the repeat, couldn't you on Saturday?
Craig: (laughs) I'm also making love on a Saturday, I chill on Sunday... Craig David in the Living Room.
Jamie Theakston: (chatting with a member of the audience) I mean, how are you gonna get a pig to sound like Madonna anyway, ay? (realises he's on camera).
Sir Jimmy Savile is invited back for a quick interview in which he claims to be wearing the suit he wore on the show when it first changed to colour (the suit was probably enough to make people change back to Black-and-white!). He's also asked to do the link into the U2 performance. This is Sir Jimmy's first appearance on the show since New Years Eve 1988.
Zoë Ball makes a one-off come-back appearance. Her last appearance was Christmas Day 1997.
This is Natalie Imbruglia's first appearance on Top of the Pops since October 1998. In this edition she also performs as backing vocalist for U2.
This is the first time Dermot O'Leary appears as presenter of the show. Although he is jokingly hazed as the 'New boy' (sign hidden on his back included) this is just one of only two shows he actually presents
New look: The opening title graphics, based on the ones introduced in 1998, now have a more 3D feel to them. The logo itself remains unchanged. Additionally, from this point onwards, the show is produced and broadcast in the 16:9 widescreen format.
New (old) Venue: Top of the Pops returns to the BBC Studios in Shepherds Bush, London for the first time in nearly 10 years.
Format change: The show now includes 'Liquid News', entertainment news snipits taken from the show of the same name. (Now featured on BBC THREE) and the short lived 'Star Bar' where interviews and general quick chats with the stars take place.
Extended episode lasting 1 hour.
David Walliams, Matt Lucas and Paul Putner portray Craig David, George Michael, Robbie Williams, Geri Halliwell and Elton John in three 'Rock Profiles' style sketches.
