  • Trivia

    • Onscreen Factoid: They Might Be Giants were formed in the early 80s by school pals John Linnell and John Flansburgh. The two Johns have been the only constant members in the band's ever-changing line-up. At one point the band was made up of the two Johns and three Dans: Dan Miller, Dan Hickney and Dan Weinkauf until one of the Dans left and was replaced by a Marty, which spoiled it for everyone!

    • Onscreen Factoid: McFly are the youngest band ever to debut with a number one album.

    • Onscreen Factoid: 'Notting Hill' star Rhys Ifans was once lead singer of Super Furry Animals.

    • Onscreen Factoid: Things could have been so different for Jemma [Jem] Griffiths. Despite writing and recording songs secretly back home in Cardiff since the age of 13 she almost ended up following in her dad's footsteps by becoming a barrister. But whilst studying law in Brighton by day, Jem was DJing around Brighton by night and soon decided that a career in music was her only option. The white wig never would've suited her anyway!

    • Onscreen Factoid: Ian Brown appeared in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'

    • Onscreen Factoid: John Legend co-wrote two tracks on Kanye West's debut Album 'The College Dropout'.

    • Onscreen Factoid: Jamiroquai take their name from a native American tribe.

    • Onscreen Factoid: Elvis Costello is the son of British bandleader Ross McManus who was best known for performing a lemonade ad jingle in the 70s. After spending his early years as a computer programmer young Elvis packed it in and stepped out on the road to stardom. This song [Oliver's Army] is one of the highlights of a glittering career peaking at number 2 in the UK. So far Elvis has never recorded a lemonade ad jingle.

    • Onscreen Factoid: Athlete mixed their latest album at the same studios where 2Pac survived being shot in 1994.

    • Onscreen Factoid: All the girls previously worked as barmaids before joining Girls Aloud.

  • Quotes

    • Rufus: Girls Aloud there, who are both Aloud and, contrary to tabloid speculation, Girls.

    • Rufus: Not all of us were born on BBC ONE you know?
Fearne: Actually, I was born on GMTV. Gutted(!).
Rufus: Well, with my newly found sense of superiority then, we need to celebrate...

  • Notes

    • Not live: This episode was pre-recorded on 19th August 2005.

    • Wacky Wardrobe: Super Furry Animals appear wearing glow-in-the-dark suits which becomes very evident when the studio lights are switched off during the song.

    • Tune up: Girls Aloud's stage performance has a vehicle mechanics theme (as in the promo video) with a sign saying 'GA Autos'. All the girls wear overalls... but not for long.
