Onscreen Factoid: Yoko Ono was spotted at Oasis's Madison Square Garden gig in June.
Onscreen Factoid: To fund his 'White Ladder' album, David [Gray] had to remortgage his home.
Onscreen Factoid: Before joining Take That, Gary Barlow had done a stint as Ken Dodd's organ player! He'd got his first big break courtesy of the BBC when he entered the Pebble Mill 'Song for Christmas' competition and got to the final with his entry 'Let's Pray for Christmas'. Recently he's been working with Charlotte Church. What's Robbie been up to? You'll find out on Top of the Pops very soon.
Onscreen Factoid: Simon [Webbe]'s first singing experience was his Mum taking him to church four times a week.
Onscreen Factoid: The Rain in the [Singin' In The Rain] movie contained milk to make it more visible on camera. However Gene [Kelly] might have wanted soup because he had a 103 degree fever whilst he danced to this song.
Onscreen Factoid: Dido's fee for signing on Faithless's album 'Reverence' was a curry!
Onscreen Factoid: Rihanna's full name is Robin Rihanna Fenty and she is signed to Jay-Z's record label.
Onscreen Factoid: The Bee Gees were the first ever group to have UK Top 20 hits in 5 different decades, starting in 1967 with 'New York Mining Disaster 1941'. The Gibb brothers first started singing at a talent contest in Manchester and became the band we know and love in 1958 after the family emigrated to Australia. Look out next year for an all-star tribute album to Maurice featuring the likes of Beyoncé, Paul McCartney and Snoop Dogg singing alongside Barry and Robin.
Onscreen Factoid: Coldplay live have performed some pretty weird covers, Aqua's 'Barbie Girl' and Nelly's 'Hot in Here'.
Onscreen Factoid: The famous [Crazy] frog sound is an imitation of a moped!
Live: Crazy Frog, David Gray, Faithless and Simon Webbe.
Pre-recorded: Rihanna, Coldplay and Oasis.
Altered Titles: The show begins with a 5 second countdown to 7pm on a Top of the Pops style background leading into the opening titles (signs the BBC still think we need the new time slot drumming into our heads).
Archive Show: The Take That and Lulu performance of 'Relight My Fire', was taken from Episode #1538 broadcast 23rd September 1993.
Archive Show: The Bee Gees performance of 'Massachusetts' was taken from Episode #212 which was the Christmas Special, broadcast on 26th December 1967. Although the song was performed earlier that year, this is the only surviving archive material of their Top of the Pops performance at this time. The song has, however, been re-performed 3 times in the 80s and 90s.
Goof: When Reggie Yates introduces Lulu he refers to Lulu's first appearance on the show in 1968, infact Lulu's first Top of the Pops appearance was broadcast on 17th June 1965.
Movie: 'Singin' In The Rain'
The infamous umbrella scene from the movie 'Singin' in the Rain' is superimposed over the Mint Royale promotional video for the song of the same name.
