      • Onscreen Factoid: (for Happy Mondays) SInger Shaun Ryder also features on the Gorillaz hit 'Demon Days'.

      • Onscreen Factoid: (for Squeeze). Jools (Keyboard) first appeared on Top of the Pops in 1972 when he was a member of the studio audience and was nearly thrown out for refusing to dance to Dawn's 'Tie A Yellow Ribbon'. Tomorrow night he's playing in Aberdeen as part of Radio 2's week in the city.

Nearly 30 years later, lead singer Feargal Sharkey looks after live music for the government and the rest of the band are still 'The Undertones' carrying on with a new singer. For more on John Peel Day log on to the Radio 1 website.

    • QUOTES (0)

    • NOTES (4)

      • Not live: This episode was pre-recorded on 28th September 2005.

      • Counting backwards: For the first, and only time to date, since the move to BBC TWO the show now has a third, unseen presenter doing the chart countdown. Rufus Hound lends his witt and vocal talents to this weeks countdown.

      • Big send-off: Andi Peters appears in the credits for this edition as "ANDI 'The Guv' PETERS". This is a playful gag to mark Andi's standing down as Executive Producer for the show after nearly 2 years. He leaves, he says, in order to pursue other work in front of the camera. In the time Andi served he contributed two revamps to the show including the ordering of the changing of the show's image and format in November 2003 and the reformatting of the show during it's move to BBC TWO. As of next week his shoes are filled by long standing BBC music show Producer; Mark Cooper. Only time will tell what Mark's influence to the show will be.

      • Doing it the other way around: Top of the Pops has a history of former or current-at-the-time DJs being brought in to present the show. This week Fearne Cotton did it the other way around, finally becoming a fully fledged Radio 1 DJ along with Reggie Yates as of the previous Friday morning. This is at no point referenced in this show however.
