  • Lots of forward-moving plot momentum in the penultimate eppy of this uneven season

    8.5
Finally an episode focused on moving the plot forward at an exciting pace. Eve Myles is again the standout as Gwen Cooper but Alexa Havins and Lauren Ambrose have their best episode of the season as their characters take huge leaps forward development-wise.

The twists are pretty cool as well as the Blessing is seen and blood's role in Miracle Day is shown.

An action-packed episode that sets up the Season Finale nicely.moreless
  • The Gathering

    8.5
The Gathering was great episode of Torchwood: Miracle Day and I really enjoyed watching this episode because there was a lot of action, drama, intrigue, plot and character development as well as some revelations about The Blessing. I wish we would have been shown more since the season is almost over, but this episode definitely had a great pace and wove the story together in a very entertaining andsuspensefulway. I look forward to watching the final episode of this season of Torchwood!!!!!!!moreless
  • I know that I said after last weeks rubbish that I had finished with this tripe but I'd downloaded this anyway and the first few minutes got me hooked. This episode was so much better that I will re-run it later to see who wrote it.moreless

    7.0
Based in the UK [for the most part] this for me is the true start to this story. The rest has been needless drivel so far but it looks as these last two shows will stand up on their own as a damn good tale.

We are back to Torchwood of old now with fast moving action and drama and a beginning and middle. [I assume the end comes next week in the final episode]. And that big hole is straight out of Dr. Who - brilliant.

    I've even given this a 7.

John Fay takes the credit for this screenplay - well done [though you had little to beat here John!]. Now I hope he's done next weeks as well.Just looked it up and Russel T wrote next weeks final episode so we'll see if the man himself can match his guest writer.

  • TRIVIA (1)

    • Rex looked into the file of John Forester who had died shortly before the Miracle at the age of 76 and that he was in the cellar when Jack was constantly being killed as seen on Immortal Sins.

As the Miracle took place in 2011 there is no way that Forester could have witnessed Jack being murdered multiple times. Having died at the age of 76 in 2011 this means that he was born in 1935, seven years after Jack's aforementioned murders in 1928.

  • QUOTES (7)

    • Rhys: Oh, and Iris Price called by. She was looking for painkillers.
Gwen: She gets a bloody headache and expects to go to the top of the list. Tell her she can have them if she pays double.
Rhys: That's the same policy as PhiCorp.
Gwen: Thanks for that. Thanks a lot.

    • Esther: The infection is almost gone.
Jack: Yeah, the gunshot didn't kill me. But I think you will.

    • Rex: Sir, I should tell you that smoking is still illegal inside.
Allen Shapiro: It can't kill you. Not anymore.
Rex: But they still haven't changed the building's insurance.
Allen Shapiro: Insurance companies went bust along with half the Western world. Oh, did I tell you? Gas allowances have been halved. You are way over limit.

    • Rex: Look, someone is leaking information. You know that's got to be true. Maybe not from here, but from somewhere down the chain. For the past two months, every move we make we get blocked.
Allen Shapiro: Yeah well, I wish it were me. Then you could shoot me and I could sleep.
Rex: Yeah, I'd like that very much, sir.

    • Allen Shapiro: The latest from the White House is that they're gonna stop all immigration. China closed its borders, now we're gonna do the same. Every passing day we are taking one step closer to a dictatorship. And we don't even know who the real dictators are.

    • Gwen: At your trial you said about that girl, "She should have run faster." Did you really say that?
      Oswald: Yes, I did.
Gwen: Right, okay. 'Cause let me tell you, Oswald, I used to be a policewoman and I worked with pedophiles and murderers, and God help me, I saw men so alone and damned and wretched. But that's not you. That's nothing like you. Because for the first time in my life I've met a monster. Is that clear?
Oswald: I feel very special. And well said.

    • Esther: It's in Shanghai.
      Jack: The Blessing's in Shanghai.
Gwen: How the hell do we get to Shanghai?
Rhys: Oh, for God's sake. You're not serious.
Gwen: They hid the word "blessing," Rhys.
Rhys: It wasn't hidden from the bloody Chinese. They saw it and there's enough of them.

    • Esther: This guy should win the Darwin Award.
