It's not cancelled per se, with the movce to BBC 1 it got this new format and shorter series (season). BBC 1 said they are waiting on the the numbers to determine furthur, and so far the numbers have been amazing, higher even than Doctor Who gets.

Torchwood better not be cancelled! They already cancelled Primeval, they better not have cancelled another of the only good shows on British television! Although 'Children of Earth day 5' did seem like a series finale.

If you had said it was going to be canceled last Sunday I would have said "Finally!". But after two failed attempts to get it right they finally have. Up till now it's been awful, as bad as seasons 1 and 2 of Atlantis, Sarah Jane Adventures was closer to what it should have been and now we've seen that they can do it properly, with death, conspiracies, under-the-table deals, real character development and quality acting. The only time it's been close to this good was season three's three-parter.

Basically had the writer not tried so hard to make it not X-Files meets Dr. Who they would have been better off.

i don't want Torchwood to end but since most of the cast were killed off and Gwen's pregnant and jack left the planet it seems unlikely that they would make another series

All i can say from an Americans point of view i love this show and even though i have to see it delayed or downloaded or whatever i think its amazing my only problem is the camera work but from what i have noticed most British cinema is that way

It hasn't been cancelled, but it seems that RTD and co have ended it on a high, on their own terms. Good for them.

Where are you guys getting the info that its canceled?? i mean yea i know they have killed off everyone but two but they intro a few people in second season and then with the mini series that might do a good job replacing them. Not to mention even though Gwen is preggo doesn't mean she can just give up you know i think there is so much room for another season or for them to continue where the children of earth mini left off

I don't think it is cancelled just yet. Torchwood used to appear on BBC3, then it progressed up to BBC2 and now BBC1 is airing this five part mini series. If the ratings are good on BBC1 (which from all stats are) I think BBC1 was going to keep airing it. Torchwood just had to prove itself on BBC1 so it keeps getting made. To go from BBC3 to BBC1 in three series (ie progressing after the end of every series) is unprecendented. I think they ended series 3 in such a way so that if another series was not made it could be tied up. RTD said he would stay on for many series if he could. I think he likes the darker side of TW that he cant get on Dr Who. I really hope they keep making Torchwood. Anyway if Jack appears in the Dr Who Chrissy special we may get a few clues.

3x05 totally felt like a series finale. imo the writers were covering their butt. ya know, just in case it was cancelled it wouldn't leave everyone wondering what happens next .... like The 4400

It may have been proving itself, but anything beyond this will be like a completely new series that will have to prove itself all over again. That was totally a series wrap up if I've ever seen one...

They have Captain Jack slated for appearances on Doctor Who for the upcoming Christmas and New Years episodes, so who knows what will happen with his character in the future. Relax already.
