Touch The Top Of The World

Show Summary

Touch the Top of the World is a 2006 documentary film produced by A & E about the life of blind climber Erik Weihenmayer, and his journey to overcome his handicap and do the impossible by ascending Mount Everest. It is based on his own memoirs, and adapted for the screen by Peter Silverman. Erik Weihenmayer is portrayed as a child by Dawson Dunbar and Jack Knight, and as an adult by Peter Facinelli. Already an established climber, it was still an incredibly arduous task for a blind man to attempt Everest. Joined by several of his closest friends, their journey was fraught with peril and near disaster all the way to the literal top of the world. The film follows Weihenmayer's life up to his greatest triumph, showing how he achieved his goals. Total runtime is 89 minutes. Anyone who enjoys inspirational stories will find something to like about Touch the Top of the World.
