The cast and production team look really solid. I am looking forward to this with tempered hopes. Kiefer Sutherland was amazing as Jack Bauer, the all-American action hero, but it was the emotion he evoked, the wounded warrior, that made him so compelling. I hope this role offers him the opportunity to continue to explore that side of his range as an actor. I too cringe at Kring's Heroes debacle, and pair that with the major network propensity for cancelling Sci-Fi shows despite devout cult fan followings (Firefly, Jericho), I am cautious aboutcommitting.
I also hope this show does not "dumb down" the science and math. Numb3rs was an interesting concept despite its characters being rather cliched, but when it came to the math, the segments seemed geared toward kindergarteners, which was irritating when considering its Friday 10PM time slot (as if the cute and fuzzy bunnies are at home on Friday night to catch Numb3rs!). I am not suggesting that they take a Ph.D. level approach to the concepts they present, rather I hope they set higher expectations for their audience and allow more difficult concepts to be simplified on their website rather than taking up air time hand-holding the viewer through abstracts and esoterica.
