Lucy has tracked down Calvin. She hit him hard with her car and injures him and demands that he tells her where he has hidden Amelia.
Calvin may be able to use Amelia and Lucy's friendship with Martin to get what he really wants. Meanwhile, Martin, following Jake's lead, learns the connection the Friedman family has with Calvin, and tries to use that connection to find Amelia. Based on their actions, Jake and Amelia are aware that "they" are coming, but they may be helpless to stop "them". After killing the priest, Ortiz has lost his way and is now in the desert, searching for answers. Till he meet someone who begs him to kill him.

Even if Jake and Amelia never have met, they still have a mental connection with each other and through the way they communicate, they agree on a rendezvous. Amelia manages to escape from Kase and Francis. Martin is in the meantime also searching for his son.
Kase and Francis need to find Amelia, so she can finish the sequence. Meanwhile, Ortiz decides to bare his soul in a confessional, which also includes his association to the thirty-six. The priest has to decide whether to break his vow and report Ortiz to the authorities, or let a confessed murderer go free.

Martin decides to be a reporter again, through Trevor. While Martin is desperately trying to get in touch with Calvin Norburg, he is summoned himself by Calvin. They devise a plan for Martin to get into the Aster Corps offices to retrieve Calvin's work by using the pass key of who Calvin sees as the one other disillusioned Aster Corps. In meantime Amelia is moved and Jake is starting to like a girl and like going school. In the meantime Ortiz is slowly closing in on determined to kill the thirty six
