Show Summary

The Tour de France is the world’s most prestigious annual bicycle race that is covered in the United States by Versus. Held every year in France and parts of other nearby countries, the Tour dates back to 1905 and is the most well-known of cycling’s three “Grand Tours”. The Tour de France lasts three weeks, broken down into day-long segments whose winners earn the honor of wearing the yellow jersey for the next stage. Competitors face a variety of challenges in the Tour’s 21 stages, ranging from fast, flat sprints to grueling mountain stages. A cyclist must perform well in all conditions in order to be crowned champion. The overall winner is decided after the final stage, which runs along the Champs-Élysées in Paris. In 2010, Spain’s Alberto Contador triumphed with his third consequetive Tour de France win. The 2010 Tour de France was streamed live online by Versus, part of the channel’s comprehensive coverage of the Tour.
