This episode was perhaps the darkes yet of the series. I mean, human experimentation is a bit of a dark turn for a network that usually has the most action in saying the word 'die'. But this episode was also quite excellently constructed. The mystery kept me going for the whole episode (and the creepy demeanor of that Dr. Giggles-esque nurse literally SCARED me for a while) and it was cool to finally see Ray get what (in my estimation) was coming to him (though I did kind of hate to see Ian get his butt kicked so badly by him). The end set up a relatively monumental cliff-hanger- so it seems that Headmaster is now presumably seeking to strip the powers of those who oppose his policies (A.K.A. CJ, Ian, Gabe, and Suki)...moreless

    • Gabe: But I thought this one out. I should be able to persuade everyone into voting for me.
Ian: She's so popular. It'd be like... running against Abraham Lincoln or something.
Gabe: Oh... my... G. "Gabraham." Yeah, I know. "Gabraham Lincoln"! Gabraham Lincoln. Why didn't I think of that? "Vote for Honest Gabe." I'm writing that down, it's too good to be true.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Gabe: Don't ask what Tower Prep can do for you. Ask what you can do for Tower Prep.
Referencing the inaugural speech of John F. Kennedy in 1961. In his speech, Kennedy quoted from the works of Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran, stating, "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country."

    • Student: He looks like Shrek.
Referencing the animated green ogre created by Dreamworks and voice by Mike Myers, who has appeared in four movies and several TV holiday specials. Despite claiming to prefer the solitude of his swamp home, Shrek is eventually lured out to help a beautiful princess, Fiona, only to discover that she is an ogress under a spell to appear human. The two are eventually married and go on to more adventures.
