This episode was one of the best as far as character development goes. Minor characters, those that don't usually get much screen time, such as Ray, Fenton, and Cal, were played up in this episode and got some development. We get to find out a little more about Fenton, see Ray start to become a nicer person, and hear about Cal's backstory and what makes him so mean. It turns out, he's just scared like everyone else and his taking out his frustration by using the tough-guy act to fake everyone out like he has it all together. That scene with him apparently joining the gnomes left me a little shocked; I DEFINITELY didn't see it coming. The Redfang thing seemed a little weird and thrown together to me, but it made sense. And at the end, it turns out that Emily, Ray, and Fenton may soon be putting together their own escape plan soon (or at least trying to find out more about that of Ian and his friends).moreless
