Carrie, Shannon and Denise were three lifelong friends living in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Now in their twenties and working together as waitresses in a local restaurant, they longed for something more. Carrie was the peacemaker who not only intervened in the lives of her friends, but also her family. Shannon was the slutty one, who'd dated all of the men in town once (and was working her way through them again). Denise was the neurotic one, newly married to couch-potato Ryan, the father of her baby. Kurt was Carrie's best friend, who lusted after her.
