Brenda is going to pay off the person who found the funereal urn containing the ashes of her husband Doug. What she doesn't know is that Zach, Dana, Johnny and Shannon are planning to catch the person who is doing this. After Brenda tapes a package of money under the washroom sink, Johnny and Dana stake out the washroom. Lucas looks great and hides the flowers that he brought for Nicole. When she sits with him, he nervously makes small talk. Finally, he asks her if she will go to the Toronto International Film Festival Opening Night Gala with him. She can't, because she is leaving for a month-long European tour on Monday with Max. Lucas disses her choice of Max and finally admits that he cares for her. Nicole is torn; she admits that she does have some feelings for Lucas, but she has just made sense of her situation with Max and Enzo. Lucas tries to fight for her by criticizing Max and his European tour. He describes the year-long journey of spiritual awakening that he would take Nicole on. Nicole is reminded of Lucas's fatal flaw -- he refuses to grow up and commit to anything, or anyone. He is like a child who cannot turn his big dreams into reality. Nicole rejects Lucas and chooses the grown-up man in her life --Max. Dana and Johnny notice when Brenda's money gets taken and they call for help. Dana, Johnny, Zach, Shannon and Brenda surround the man. But the man takes out the urn and threatens to dump Doug's ashes if they don't let him go. Brenda wants to know why he would do this and the man, Sam, tells them all about his troubles -- his girlfriend is pregnant and, after being fired, he cannot find a new job because of his criminal record. Brenda tells him that he wants to be a good father just like Doug, who is pictured on the urn. Sam feels so badly that he gives her back the urn. Johnny sympathizes with Sam's situation so much that he offers him a job at Shed-For-Brains. Brenda gives Sam a small reward to help him get started and Johnny reminds Sam that if he's ever out of line, he's gonna get the hammer fist. Randy joins Liz who is sitting alone and visibly upset. When Randy asks what's wrong, Liz explains that her new flame, Blair, a successful and attractive restauranteur, lost interest in her once he found out she was pregnant. She describes how every man she has ever chosen has disappointed and hurt her. She can't believe that she let it happen again. When Randy tells her how great he thinks she is, Liz disagrees. There must be something self-destructive in her because of the bad choices she makes. Randy claims that everyone does the same thing. He talks about his own situation with Agnes. Liz thinks her problem is worse. She has been looking for the wrong things in men. At last, Liz looks Randy straight in the eyes and kisses him. They are both surprised. moreless
