Now that Megatron's body is rebuilt, he leads the Decepticons in his search for the AllSpark. When the Autobots fail to defend the Earth from the Decepticons, they must fight harder than ever to protect the AllSpark. Quotes of this episode: Optimus Prime: If we go down, we go down fighting. And I can't think of a better band of Autobots I'd be prouder to fight alongside.

Bumblebee: Not even the Cybertron Elite Guard? Because I sure wouldn't mind having them here now. Optimus Prime: You all fought like Autobots. I can't tell you how proud I am of each and every one of you.

Bumblebee: Go on, tell us! We can take it! Bulkhead: I'm so banged up I couldn't even transform into a scrap heap! Megatron: (to Prowl) Don't think I've forgotten about you slicing off this arm. I've been waiting fifty stellar cycles to pay you back.

Optimus Prime: (Knocks Megatron's sword out of his hand) Looks like you're gonna have to wait a little longer.moreless
  • Here is where the biggest complaints of the fans are addressed, and put to shame. This is every bit as impressive as the previous Transformer series, and it does it their way.moreless

I am no stranger to manual labor, having had various jobs that required heay lifting. One time I had to put a 300 pound roll of vinyl in the back of my truck, and after struggling to do it alone, I got someone to help. A while later I had to do it again, except there was no one around to help. So I gritted my teeth, dug in my heels and I forced that heavy thing into my truck. It was exhausting, but satisfying...I felt very manly. I think that is similar to how the Autobots felt at the end of this episode. Knowing that there wasn't any calvary to come to the rescue, they decided that they were not going to let the Decepticons push them back any further. Always smaller, outgunned and untrained, they now understand what it means to give it your all. Bulkheads beat down with Lugnut was especially satisfying.

This really showcases the raw size difference between the Autobots and the Decepticons. Even the recent movie with accurate mass shifting didn't address it. If the Autobots are civilian road vehicles and the Decepticons are military tanks and jets, how could they be the same robot size? The answer is they can't. Here the Decepticons are intimidating and dangerous. Just one of them requires serious strategy and forethought to defeat.

With Megatron back in fighting form, I must commend the voice work of Corey Burton. The voice he created produces a cold, calculating and truly scary monster. This Megatron doesn't fight with rage, but with a single focus. You get in his way, he will slam into you without hesitation. This is different from the vain G1 incarnation, the manipulative schemer of Beast Wars and the vicious berserker of the movie.

As for this Optimus Prime, he steps right up with all past incarnations. Heroic, strong leader, and willing to keep up the fight no matter what. He even says a variation of "Megatron must be stopped, no matter the cost." The beating he takes from Megatron and the valiant efforts to keep on going was great.

This version of Transformers has earned its stripes. While it has plenty for the kids to enjoy with bright colors and comical jokes, there is a maturity about its storyline that makes everything work. It will be interesting when there are more characters introduced on both sides, and an epic war breaks out.moreless
  • A decent finale.

This was a nice end to the two parter. I admit, I was a bit peeved about the glaring absence of the Dinobots and that Blackarachnia just appeared for a small role. It was just the five Autobots and the Decepticons. And it was awesome because they took down the Decepticons with nothing but their brains. I mean, if the Dinobots or any type of calvary came in, it would've taken away their full victory. I liked how Bulkhead used Lugnut's 'punch' to blow him away. It was hilarious how Bumblebee egged Blitzwing on to transform into a tank - while in midair.

But the climax is where things took off. Megatron finally takes the All Spark, but Optimus Prime won't let him. They struggle, but the energies of the All Spark were dispersed and Megatron was temporarily defeated. But it turns out to be a hollow victory when it's discovered that he kidnaps Professor Sumdac.

What will happen to him? What kind of new Transformers will be infused with the All Spark energies? What about the Elite Guard?

    A great ending!moreless
  • Megatron lives to continue his quest to obtain the almighty All-Spark.

    8.0
This was a good episode, but left me with a few unanswered questions. In addition, there were a few things that weren't touched upon or at least expounded upon that would have made this good episode a great one. First, Black Arachnia never did anything in this episode aside from abduct Sari and her escape from Black Arachnia's clutches was very weak. Even though Black Arachnia is half organic, Sari must have had titanium teeth for her feel a bite from a tiny human. Secondly, where were the Dinobots? Not even a cameo in this episode. In part one, the writers made a subtle hint that the Dinobots would play a vital role, but we were left in the cold. Thirdly, where are the decepticons? What happened to Lugnut, Blitzwing and Black Arachnia? Additionally, where is Starscream? Is he offline or barely functional? We saw Megatron blast him with his fusion cannon AND do something to him with Sari's key. Lastly, what was going on with Professor Sumdac at the end of the episode? I couldn't tell if he were shivering in a straight jacket or if he was with Megatron by his own volition... and what of the All-Spark? Optimus said it was dispersed, not destroyed so what is the mission now? Use Sari's key to locate the All-Spark pieces?

At any rate, this was a good episode, but again, I felt it was missing a few of the aforementioned key components that would have given the episode a bit more depth. The fight scenes were great with the Decepticons dominating as usual, however the Autobots proved they're more than meets the eye and managed to stem the Decepticon tide. Optimus Prime finally got in a few shots on Megatron which was comforting. I always get a kick out of the G1 references which seem to be in abundance throughout this series. In this installment, the G1 throwbacks were the Autobot's ship crashing into the side of a Volcano and Megatron's damaged appearance after the All-Spark exploded and was dispersed. It reminded me of Transformers: the Movie where after the great battle between Megatron and Optimus, Megatron says, "It's over, Prime..."

Overall, this episode was entertaining as usual and delivers close to expectations, however I felt the writing crew could have better filled in the gaps to make this episode feel more complete. Perhaps this episode would have been better suited if it were 3 parts.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • Goof: After Blackarachnia lets go of Sari, Ratchet catches her with his right hand. However, Ratchet lost this hand at the end of the previous episode, and it is somehow repaired.

    • Megatron's new Earth alternate mode appears to be a futuristic V-22 Osprey.

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Bumblebee: So, what do we do now? Wait for him to turn back into a tank and crash, like last time?
Ratchet: Nobody gets that lucky, twice.

    • Megatron: And now nothing can stop me from reaching the AllSpark.
      Optimus Prime: Nothing except me!

    • Sari: If you think I'm letting you gearheads out of my sight, you're nuts... and I don't mean that kind that come with bolts.

    • Sari: (About Blackarachnia) I was keeping her distracted. You believe me, right?
Ratchet: Right now I'm more concerned with the others.
Sari: No problem, we'll just fix 'em up. I mean, it's not like you lost my key or anything... (Ratchet looks away) You lost my key!?
Ratchet: Technically I lost my hand... it just happened to have your key attached to it.

    • Bumblebee: Hey, Blitzbrain! Is that your jet mode or did your pal Lugnut dump some spare parts? How come you have three faces? Couldn't decide which one's the ugliest? And who uses ice as a weapon? I mean, what are you, a refrigerator?
Blitzwing: (changes into tank mode) You want heat? I'll give you more then you can hand... oh, slag! Not again! (Drops into the ocean)

    • Optimus Prime: (To Sari and Professor Sumdac) Stay with the ship. We'll hold of the Decepticons for as long as we can.
      Sari: And then what?
Optimus Prime: If we go down, we go down fighting... Together. And I can't think of a better band of Autobots I'd be prouder to fight alongside.
Bumblebee: Not even the Cybertron Elite Guard? 'Cause I sure wouldn't mind having them here now.

    • Optimus Prime: You all fought like Autobots. I can't tell you how proud I am of each and every one of you.
Bumblebee: Go on, tell us! We can take it!

    • Bulkhead: I'm so banged up I couldn't even transform into a scrap heap!

    • Megatron: (to Prowl) Don't think I've forgotten about you slicing off this arm. I've been waiting fifty stellar cycles to pay you back.
Optimus Prime: (Knocks Megatron's sword out of his hand) Looks like you're gonna have to wait a little longer.

    • (Blitzwing and Lugnut land behind Megatron)
Lugnut: (kneels and bows to Megatron) Oh great and glorious Megatron! We are ready to destroy...
(Starscream lands on top of Lugnut)
Starscream: I am ready to serve as your ever faithful, second in command!

    • (Megatron appears)
Bulkhead: Is that who I think it is?
      Prowl: How is that possible?
Optimus Prime: I don't know, but he doesn't look too interested in explanations.

    • Prowl: I've noticed a connection between Blitzwing's multiple personalites and his vehicle modes. We can use that weakness against him but it will require using Bumblebee's greatest strength.
Bumblebee: What, my stingers? My turbo-speed?
      Prowl: Your obnoxious personality.

    • Professor Sumdac: Oh dear, this is all my fault!
Sari: What, it's not like you built Megatron in your lab or anything. (Professor Sumdac looks guilty) You built Megatron in your lab?!
Ratchet: On the bright side, now I don't feel so bad about losing your key.

    • Megatron: Decepticons, transform and rise up!

    • Optimus Prime: You want power... have your fill!

  • NOTES (4)
