  • An amazing start to season two.

    10
Once again, Transformers: Animated has scored another home run with this season premier.

This was a spectacular episode with very interesting new characters and plot twists. Now that the Decepticons are defeated for the time being, who should arrive but the Elite Guard, which consist of Ultra Magnus, Sentinel Prime, and Jazz.

While the Decepticons and Dinobots made a very short appearance and the corrupted robots weren't really much of a threat, the main focus here were the Elite Guard and they were spectacular!

Ultra Magnus: The leader, booming with authority especially when he released his inner Thor on those robots.

    Sentinel Prime: Jerk.

Jazz: He is officially my favorite character. When I found out he would first appear in this episode, I couldn't wait and when I saw the episode, Jazz did not disappoint. He has the same vibe as his G1 counterpart and he is incredibly cool. Heck, even Prowl was impressed by his ninja skills. If the Elite Guard leave Earth, I want Jazz to stay just because he is so awesome. But the most interesting part of the episode was the ending where we find out Sari doesn't legally exist. How? Why?

Anyways, an amazing episode. Hope to see more of the Elite Guard, especially Jazz.moreless
  • Jazz, Ultra Magnus and the Elite Guard revealed!

    9.0
Another great episode. This show just continues to impress me aside from the animation which has gotten a bit better.

First and foremost, I have to compliment Phil LaMarr with a good voice-over as Jazz. It seemed that he tried a bit to sound like the original voice actor, Scatman Crothers, but when I listened a bit more carefully, he sounded much like Steel from Justice League Unlimited. I believe he was using his young Morgan Freeman voice. Still, I liked it.

Sentinel Prime is such a prick with his Dudley Do-right chin. I couldn't wait for him and Optimus to finally get into it. He's always treated Optimus like a subordinate and it was good to see him get his just desserts at the end of the episode when Ultra Magnus gave him a mini scolding. Speaking of Ultra Magnus, what was that Thor-like hammer he brandished? Being strictly a G1 Transformers fan, I can't recall seeing an Autobot wield anything so powerful other than the Matrix.

So we've finally got to see what the Cybertron Elite Guard is all about... somewhat. Where's the rest of them and shouldn't they all have some kind of 'Prime' designation? Not sure how that's supposed to work. Jazzimus Prime would sound kind of strange anyway. :P Perhaps, they'll introduce Rodimus Prime at some point instead of Hot Rod and invent a character or two for the series. It'll be interesting to see.

Regarding Sari, it appears her mysterious background just may be as everyone is predicting. Since Professor Sumdac is an expert at reverse engineering, he probably used Megatron's technology to create himself an android daughter. It appears her origin is headed in that direction and it's more than obvious that the Professor never marries anyone with him being consumed with his work.

Overall, this was another great episode. We finally got to see Jazz and the Elite Guard (somewhat), we got a bit of a progress report on the status of the Decepticons although we still don't know if Starscream is offline. It would be a travesty to waste such a promising character. Hopefully, they don't make him into a ghost. While I enjoy the G1 Easter Eggs, sending Starscream to another plane of existence would be a mistake. Apparently, the focus for the next season will be to locate the fragmented pieces of the All-Spark which was dispersed in the previous episode. Hopefully, this quest provides for more compelling episodes and stays on track with what we enjoy most about Transformers: Autobots vs. Decepticons.moreless
  • The Elite Guard has come looking for the All Spark. But what will happen when they find out what has happened to the All Sparrk.

What a great, great episode. Megatron's got a new base, Ultra Magnus and Jazz both kick serious ass, Sentinel finally gets put in his place, Dinobots show up...

    And the ending...

Lets say i did not see that coming. What is Sari? is she a robot ? a normal child but her dad forgot to sign the birth stuff? or she could be an Alien?. This may be answered in the series finale. The good news Isiac Sumdac fans that he is still alive the bad news he forced to work for Megatron or HE WILL DIE!!!!!!! MUWHHHA. He has to bild a space bridge. Any way next episode has got Headmaster again and it will also teach Sentinel to stop being a dive.moreless
  • When a shooting star is lands on Earth, the large Cybertronian ship is revealed. Ultra Magnus, Sentinel Prime, and many others are here to find Optimsu and the other Earth-bound Autobots. Sari is revealed to have no information on her past.moreless

    9.1
(MAJOR SPOILERS!)The techniques used by the Autobots are very impressive in the battle over the poilce bots. Ultra Magnus' hammer collects lightning and strikes down any opponent, leaving the Autobobts victorious. Since Sari is the only heir to the Sumdac empire, she takes over the company with Bumblbee as her assistant. When Sari tresspasses on the Cybertronian ship, she is blocked off by security walls. THe alarm goes off as an orgainc alert. The past experiences with giant organic spiders, like the ones that created Blackarachnia, has clouded the new arrivals' judgements on humans. Meanwhile, Megatron and his remaining followers are settling in their possibly underground lair. (spoiler- Starscream is presumably "offline",which can be seen the last episode.) Dr. Sumdac is also taken prisoner and is forced to do the building of hte space bridge. This episode reveals: Cybertron, home planet of the Transformers, Sari's "no data" past, scattered Allspark fragments, and many more. Like I said in the summary, Optimus Prime and Sentinel Prime seem to have major problems with each other. The only one calm in the situation is Ultra Magnus. Speaking of him, his hammer attack reminds me of Thor, another old cartoon. I give this episode 9/10.moreless

  • TRIVIA (3)

  • QUOTES (15)

    • Jazz: I got orders from Ultra Magnus to stick with you.
Bumblebee: Yeah, but he didn't say where!
Jazz: Well, I have been itching to give my new wheels a spin... (changes to sports car mode) Besides, any species that can come up with a sweet ride like this can't be all bad!

    • Sari: Hey, why is my office locked?
Porter Powell: Miss Sumdac, I regret to inform you that your services will no longer be required. The board has unanimously elected me to take over as CEO of Sumdac Systems.
Sari: You can't do that! It's still my family's company!
Porter Powell: Is it? I took the liberty of doing some research into your claim. It might interest you to know that there is no will, no birth certificate, no adoption papers, social security number or any kind of record, whatsoever, for a Sari Sumdac.
Sari: Are you saying I can't prove I'm Isaac Sumdac's daughter?
Porter Powell: I'm saying you can't even prove you exist.

    • Jazz: Stay back! You don't wanna be slimed.
Bulkhead: Relax. That's just Sari. She's perfectly safe.
      Jazz: But Sentinel...
Bumblebee: Is a glitch-head... All do respect.

    • Jazz: Contamination located.
Sari: Who are you calling a contamination?
Jazz: Stay cool and roll back off the ship nice and easy like. And don't even think of spewing any of your slime at me.
Sari: Slime? What are you... Oh, you're afraid of me aren't you? Boogah, boogah, boogah. (Jazz jumps up afraid)

    • Professor Sumdac: You can not trick me into helping you this time, Megatron. The Autobots will come for me.
Megatron: And yet, thus far, they have not. Why do you think that is? Could it have something to do with the fact that you resurrected their worst enemy? Right now the only thing keeping you alive is your usefulness to me.

    • Sentinel Prime: (To Bumblebee) You! Tiny, step out from your over-grown pal.
Bulkhead: I don't think he remembers us...
Bumblebee: and that's just how I want to keep it.

    • Ultra Magnus: Jazz, set up a force shield to quarantine us from those organics.
Jazz: (Looks at Sari) You sure that's necessary, commander? I'd like to get a closer look...
Sentinel Prime: You might feel different when the slime they spew out melts through your armor plating and rots your circuits from the inside.
      Jazz: Really?
Sentinel Prime: I've had some experience with organics. Believe me, nothing good can come from contact with 'em. Isn't that right, Optimus?

    • Sentinel Prime: But sir, you can't honestly believe that! He's a lying, insubordinate crankshaft!
Ultra Magnus: He may be a little rough around the edges but in the heat of battle, Optimus Prime exhibited the qualities of a true leader: strategic thinking, determination and above all, loyalty. Something you could learn a thing or two about, Sentinel Prime.

    • Optimus Prime: (to the humans about the Elite Guard) It's alright, they're on our side. (transforms and leaves with Ultra Magnus and Sentinel Prime. Sentinel Prime knocks over a couple of cars)
Captain Fanzone: That's good 'cuz I was worried they might, y'know, destroy something!

    • Sentinel Prime: I'll give you points for creativity on your bogus story, Optimus. But where's your proof? Show me one shred of evidence that the AllSpark wasn't completely destroyed on your watch.
Optimus Prime: You have my word.
Sentinel Prime: We all know what that's worth, don't we?
Bulkhead: (to Optimus Prime) C'mon Bossbot, why don't you stand up for yourself?
Sentinel Prime Because he knows his place.
Bulkhead: How 'bout I put you in your place!
(Jazz holds Sentinel Prime back while Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet and Prowl hold Bulkhead back)
      Prowl: Bulkhead, no!
      Bumblebee: Easy big guy!
Ratchet: This cyber clown isn't worth it!

    • Prowl: (about the humans, while being decontaminated) These are humans, not space barnacles!

    • Sentinel Prime: (Grabs Optimus Prime) I think you've done enough, Optimus. I'll make sure you're tried for high treason for destroying the AllSpark! Now come with me!
      Optimus Prime: No.
Sentinel Prime: That wasn't a request, that's a direct order, Optimus!
Optimus Prime: It's Optimus Prime! I may be an Elite Guard washout and a glitch detail flunky, but the last time I checked, you and I still had equal rank. So Sentinel Prime take your order, and your condescending attitude, and stick it in your hard drive! You're on my turf now!

    • Jazz: Man, that was some funky blinkin' colored light show! What'd you call those things again?
      Bulkhead: Traffic lights?
      Jazz: Traffic lights. Solid.

    • (The assembly line robots fire at the Autobots)
Jazz: Is it always like this on this crazy planet?
      Prowl: Pretty much.

    • Optimus Prime: (to Ultra Magnus) Commander, here on earth, we drive on the right side of the street.
Sentinel Prime: Ultra Magnus is not interested in the opinions of a scrub!
