Episode Summary

EDIT
City of Steel
AIRED:
The Decepticons hit New York City, and most definitely not for the sights. Instead, New Yorkers may have to get used to living in vastly different conditions. Even worse, the Decepticons foil Optimus' attempt to stop them and exact a vicious toll on him. Now, in addition to undoing what has been done to New York City, the other Autobots must rebuild their leader from numerous parts. Problem is, they will have to scour the city first to do so.moreless

  • Different Animation, but alot of fun!

    8.0
This episode had different animators than most, but I didn't mind it.

It was nice to see Megatron have a different goal for once. Instead of the usual search for energy to conquer Cybertron, it seems Megatron has accepted he's staying on Earth for some time and wants to make the landscape nicer during his stay.

...And does he ever! New York never looked as nice as it does with Cybertronian buildings and skyways.

Most episodes where the bad guy doesn't kill the good guy is bad writing. But in this case, Megatron was easily having too much fun being creative that he thought of an equally creative manner to deal with Optimus Prime: chop him up and give him to the Constructicons.

Nice revelation by the Autobots when they discover the alligator-con was made out of Optimus Prime's torso.

The scenes with Devastator were neat, and I loved how their own work of placing Prime's arm & gun on top of the building eventually leads to their downfall.

    Literally!

This episode was obviously produced as a fun story, and it certainly has me sold!moreless
  • City of Steel is definitely one of the weakest Transformers epiosdes.

    7.0
This episode was most certainly not well thought out but was rather rushed, which is why I consider this to be one of the weaker episodes for Season 2. This episode moves very quickly wiht the plot squeezed in 20 minutes. There are many absurd elements in the episode. Some of things I disliked is how Optimus Prime was esily disabled by the Decepticons or how the powerful Devastator was shot down by optimus arm or even how the Autobots were able to restore New York City in a blink of an eye! To make things worse, this was the first Transformers episode to be animated in Korea rather than Japan, which makes the animation less standard. I am not saying this episode is horrible or unwatchable but it could have been better rather than disappointing.moreless
  • One of the worst episodes.

    7.0
This episode has a lot of errors like the scene when the Decepticons sinks the Empire State Building. Physically, the buildings just don’t sink into the ground completely intact like that. When Scrapper is attacking Optimus from beneath Central Park, when he slams into the ceiling of the cavern, the cracks run out of the rock and over the picture, making it look like your TV screen is cracking. One zap to Optimus’s chest-grill severs his motor-relays and completely paralyses him? Idon´t think that, because all the robots and living beings have their "Body controls" on their head. This isn´t a good episode, but still a Transformers episode.moreless
