John Goodman was originally not supposed to be a star of this show, just there for a few guest appearances, but thankfully he jumped on board. Creighton is one of the most interesting characters on television right now, and that is not purely because most shows are in summer hiatus. He is both a good guy and a villain at the same time. He challenges his students to challenge themselves, but then he picks up a bad habit like smoking. This is what David Simon is all about.

But the rest of the show just isn't quite there yet. The characters are slow to develop, and their arcs just don't interest me. Khandi Alexander was good on Newsradio, but it is time for Simon to break the partnership with her. Her performance is just uninspired.moreless
