  • Abel, a Krusnik priest, attempts to stop a hijacking.

The episode begins with a narration explaining that Trinity Blood takes place after Armageddon; I myself always thought that meant the world would be destroyed, but no! Humanity has managed to rebuild it to most of its former glory. It is shown that the post-Armageddon world is very different from the world today: the two remaining powers in the world are the Vatican and the vampiric Empire; the pope is perhaps 15-16 years old and there is a female cardinal.

Father Abel Nightroad, a Vatican priest and AX member, is on a plane when it is hijacked by a vampire hoping to free his captive comrades. Abel, at first glance appearing charming, clumsy, and frail, ends up unleashing his Krusnik powers on the hijacker. A Krusnik is apparently a being who feeds on the blood of vampires themselves. After doing the vampire in, Nightroad saves the day, but there hints at much darker things in store for the Krusnik priest.moreless

I absolutely love this episode. Well of course I do it is the first episode. But they introduce you to the main character in a very good way. Abelis hilarious, we first see him complaining about not have any money to get anything to eat. He's all whinny and acting like a child but he's actually some kick but vamp dude, it's just so funny. When the woman was about to get killed he didn't even go there because he wanted to rescue her but because he felt bad about her getting him some food for free. He didn't even know something bad was happening. But he saves the girl of course and when thevamp comes after them he fights him on the outside of the ship and turns into the Crusnik which was so feaking awesome. I loved how they introduce you to him. Great episode!moreless

This is the first episode of Trinity Blood called Flight Night. I think it's really amazing how they used the characters to an amazing plot in this series. In this episode they introduced Abel Nightroad to the scene and he was fighting vampires by sucking their blood and all that. I know this will be a killer episode by now then.

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • This is the first appearance of: Abel Nightroad; Tres Iques; Cardinal Caterina Sforza; Sister Kate Scott; Cardinal Francesco de Medici; Pope Alessandro XVIII; Jessica Langston.

    • Father Abel Nightroad uses only 40% of his Krusnik power against the vampire in this episode.

    • The plot of this episode involves a plane, which perhaps is a pun on the term 'pilot episode', since this is the first episode.

  • QUOTES (10)

    • Narrator : And out of that lasting darkness...they emerged. From the legends of ancient times, they have been called forth into the world anew...vampires!

    • Abel: A cup of milk tea would be nice...with thirteen spoonfuls of sugar.
      Jessica: Uh, I'm sorry!

    • Abel: I'll wait! I'll wait! All the powers of heaven and earth couldn't move me from this spot.

    • Jessica: (thinking) Is that the master code? He's hijacking the ship!

    • Cardinal Caterina: The Tristan belongs to the kingdom of Albion. Think of the strain that would place on our diplomatic relations!

    • Jessica: Please, don't tamper with it, Father! That can only be done by a programmer specialized in lost technology!
Abel: It'll be all right...have a little faith.

    • Abel: Enough! You've had your fill.
Vampire: I'll drink your blood, too! (attacks Abel)

    • Vampire: Good...run then...there's nothing like the thrill of the hunt!

    • Vampire: Interesting...you're clearly not human but you're-you're not one of us.
Abel: Has it never occurred to you that there might be something beyond the two? Humans eat the skin of cows and birds. Vampires drink the blood of humans. So, why not a being still higher up on the food chain? I am a Krusnik...a vampire that feeds on the blood of vampires!

    • Abel: For your crimes on this Earth, you are sure to be damned! Nonetheless, I will say a prayer on your behalf.

  • NOTES (2)

  • ALLUSIONS (3)

    • Krsnik
The word, Krsnik, refers to a Slovenian mythical creature, a vampire slaying shaman, who can take the form of various animals. This may be where the idea of the Krusnik (alternate spelling for Crusnik) came from, in this anime.

    • Fleurs du Mal means "The Flowers of Evil" in Italian.

    • Cardinal Caterina Sforza The character, Cardinal Caterina Sforza, is based on Caterina Sforza (1463-1509). The real Caterina was born in Forli, Italy, and was an illegitimate daughter of Galeazzo Maria Sforza, the Duke of Milan.
