Tropfest is the world's smallest film festival which began in Sydney, Australia in 1993. Since then, it has spawned a New York festival and Trop Jr, a film festival for kids by kids.
In 2009, Tropfest began broadcasting the Sydney festival nationwide, with pay TV channel Movie Extra buying the rights for seven years.
