It's revealed that the older a vampire is, the quicker he or she will be destroyed by the rays of the sun.
When Godric says goodbye to Eric he calls him "father, brother, son". This refers back to episode 2x05 "Never Let Me Go" when Godric turned Eric into a vampire and told him "I'll be your father, your brother, your son".
(Bill drains the kid of a lot of blood)
Kid: Oh God...oh God...
Bill: You tell the cowards who lead you, the cowards who send children to do their killing: Little vampires show mercy where they had none. (Kid runs off stumbling and crying)
Arlene: She was clumsy, stupid and mean, but I wouldn't wish that death on an opossum.
Godric: I'm sorry. I apologize for all the harm I've caused, all our lost ones, human and vampire. I will make amends. I swear.
Nan Flanagan: Take it easy. It's just a few signatures.
Maxine: You're my baby boy.
Hoyt: I'm not a baby. I'm a grown-ass man.
Hoyt: Why do you have so much hate in you?
Maxine: I don't.
Hoyt: That's a flat lie.
Maxine: Who do you think you're talking to?
Hoyt: My mama. Who hates Methodists.
Maxine: I have my reasons.
Hoyt: And Catholics.
Maxine: Just priests...and nuns.
Hoyt: African Americans.
Maxine: Hush that's a secret.
Arlene: Quit being so much more peculiar than you usually are.
Terry: I didn't mean to be peculiar at you.
Arlene: (On the phone) Merlotte's. Hurry up. Lisa lunch is your job. You've got a microwave that's all you need. Oh come on. Coby'll eat cat food if you put mayo on it.
Jason: I'm sorry about everything I've done to you. I'm a dumbass.
Sookie: Yeah but you wouldn't be if you used your brain instead of just letting it take up space in your skull.
Bill: You're connected. He'll be able to sense your emotions
Sookie: No! No! (turning to Eric) You big lying a-hole.
Eric: Bill I think you're right. I think I can sense her emotions.
(After Bill explains to Sookie that Eric would have healed without her sucking it out)
Eric: A tiny falsehood.
(Scene on the hotel roof between Godric and Eric with Sookie watching on as sunrise approaches)
Godric: Father, brother, son...(Eric weeps) Let me go.
Eric: (stops crying and takes a deep breath) I won't let you die alone.
Godric: Yes, you will. (Eric cries and Godric rests a hand on his shoulder waiting for Eric to look at him before speaking again) As your maker I command you.
(Eric stands holding Godric's gaze and then walks to the stairs where Sookie waits observing. She reaches out a hand for his and he turns to her)
Sookie: I'll stay with him. (Eric nods) As long as it takes. (Eric watches her walk to Godric before continuing down the stairs)
(Eric wants Sookie to suck the silver out for him.)
Sookie: I can't, it's too gross and it's you.
Bill: We may be immortal, Lorena, but you are dead to me.
Lorena: I wish you hadn't said that.
Sookie: Are you very afraid?
Godric: No. (he laughs) No. I'm full of joy.
Sookie: But the pain?
Godric: I want to burn.
Sookie: I'm afraid for you. (she starts to tear up)
Godric: A human with me at the end, and human tears. 2,000 years and I can still be surprised. In this I see God.
(Waiting on the roof to meet the Sun with Sookie)
Godric: You'll care for him? Eric?
Sookie: I'm not sure - you know how he is.
Godric: I can take the blame for that too.
Sookie: (smiles) Maybe not. Eric's pretty much himself.
(Sookie asks Godric if he is afraid)
Godric: Do you believe in God?
Sookie: Yes, I do.
Godric: If you're right, how will he punish me?
Sookie: God doesn't punish, he forgives.
Godric: I don't deserve it. But I hope for it.
Sookie: We all do.
