  • A lot of loose ends are tied up and a lot of new questions are asked. Basically an episode to bring everyone up to speed on what has happened and is happening in the world of Sookie, Bill, Sam, Tara, Lafayette, and Jason.moreless

Really a major filler episode in this season premiere of True Blood. I guess it's a good time to jump on board if you haven't seen the show up to this point. So you wouldn't be too lost if this was the first episode you've seen. Also the Dallas part mentioned in the summary for this episode did not occur yet as part of the running story.

Sookie and Bill are getting closer as all the untold stories between them are being told and accepted. Jessica's existence is revealed to Sookie and why she has come to be there. The final scene between them is smoking hot! They are both definitely are in love. It will be great to see where this takes them as she really tries to understand his life and theirs together.

We still don't understand everything about Maryann (I didn't realize that was Michelle Forbes by the way!) but we understand that she isn't a normal human being and she and Sam definitely have a past. Now we wonder what the future holds and her plans for Sam, and Tara.

Jason prayed and got his money so he will be going to the retreat he hoped for. I get the feeling that this might be a don't wish for something because you might get it situation.

Another dead body and it wasn't Lafayette as maybe we were lead to believe. It was Miss Jeanette and something had torn her heart out and left her in the back seat of Andy's car. Andy has left the building (his mind) and the sheriff takes him off the case.

Finally we see Lafayette being held in a basement of the Area 5 Vampire sheriff Eric. They said don't cross the vampires because they give out a harsh form of punishment. Remember they think of humans as cattle!

The rest of the episode wraps up old characters and introduces new ones. It definitely is worth watching to catch up with what has been going on in Bon Temps.

    Thanks for reading...moreless

let me start by saying i loved the show when it first aired and can't seem to keep my eyes off it.season's two's first episode picks up where last season ended, sookie(anna paquin) and tara(Rutina Wesley) are escourting a drunken Detective Andy Bellefleur(Chris Bauer) to his car when in his drunken stuper notice's his car has been moved.Sookie and tara are not convinced shrugging it off as drunken babble when sookie opens the back door to the detective's car she notices a foot hanging out and notices the cadaver laying in the bac seat.Of course both sookie and tara scream in sudden teerror while the unmoved andy exclaims in sheer oblivious taste "thats not mine"

the rest of the episode pics up as well showing the newlly free jason stackhouse(Ryan Kwanten) gaining a more indeepth interest in the chruch of the sun religion, mean while bill(Stephen Moyer) must now deal with his new vammpire sired? Jessica which will be a challenge considering she is a young vampire and must learn to obey bill's rules.sam(Sam Trammell)

is contending with the fact that a woman from his secretive past has returned Maryann(Michelle Forbes).and lastlly Lafayette(Nelsan Ellis) whose fate was unknown thanks to season one's cliffhanger end is being held captive by the towns vampire Sheriff eric(Alexander Skarsgård) for reasons obvious but still unknown.the peisode was perfect in how there were no miss'ed plot points and many connections to last season's finale.moreless
  • Characters come, and characters go...!!!

    8.0
There was a day prior to finding sci-fi / fantasy shows, when I would not have appreciated the cast attrition rate that True Blood has, but with this kind of show I guess its a given that characters are going to go away...and sometimes spectacularly so!

This story just keeps getting better and better, and key characters own stories evolve at a dizzying rate...but it never gets out of control. Kudos to some amazing writing and convincing performances for that detail.

"Maryann" (OMG! its Lt. Ro!!) is going to be an interesting wrinkle. I bet her demise, when and if it comes, will be in a blaze of glory! And "holy teenage years, Batman", I have a 17 year old JUST LIKE "Jessica"...maybe she's a vampire too! Maybe that's it! :o\

And doesn't "Eric" just present, in vivid technicolour, a whole other side to Bon Temps vamps?! This character is going to keep the purists happy and I hope he has a much larger role this season.

    Is it next Sunday yet...??moreless
  • OMFG how does this show manage to be so good? *spoilers*

After the suspense of the season 1 finale I'm soo glad that this episode picked up right from there and that Lafayette isn't dead (for now).

I was so shocked and freaked out by the opening scene that I actually screamed lol, I mean what the eff Miss Jeanette had her heart ripped out and her face was all contorted like she was screaming that is the scariest thing I have seen in TV like in forever.

It seems that this season there is a lot of ongoing story arcs; who is the new killer in town? What exactly is up with MaryAnne and Sam? What is gonna happen with Sookie, Bill and their "daughter" Jessica? Jason has joined a cult? And the biggest shocker for me, Eric is the one that is keeping Lafayette hostage.

I must say I'm most intrigued by the MaryAnne story and the Sam/Tara/Eggs love triangle she has set up (yeah I ship Tara/Sam. So shoot me) and what the hell does MaryAnne want from Sam? It's not money that's for sure. I like the Sam flashback scenes this episode because I want to know more about Sam and the underground shifter community, and finding out that MaryAnne it evil is a bonus cos I just love to hate a character :P ... Wow here comes a summer of shouting at the TV screen.

The little domestic scenes of Bill and Jessica trying Tru Blood flavours was delightful, at least she seems to have calmed down a bit.

Excellant, brilliant this is "A" class television I can't wait until next week!moreless
  • The script is packed with great one-liners and Michelle Forbes steals every scene she's in. Season 2 is gonna be a good'un!

    8.5
The first episode from True Blood's sophomore season picks up quite literally from the last episode. The net was set alight with fans crying out over Lafayette's death…turns out he's still alive. Did it have anything to do with how taken fans were with him? Either way, his storyline looks to be all kinds of cool – there was a definite Saw element, I was half expecting Jigsaw to show up at any moment. >>>

I enjoyed how the script flowed, everyone got their moment to shine, and the dialogue was just magical (''My ass is magnetic!'' HA!). The script manages to strike a perfect balance between the funny and the creepy; I hope it keeps this up. And there's plenty of cracking character moments, too.

    >>>

Michelle Forbes is a true find. She won me over on BSG, she was one scary motherfraker, and I'm glad to report Michelle is bringing the same intensity to this role, although she does get a lot of fun moments, too. Maryann is still a giant, sexy question mark at this stage, but she spells trouble. Oh and will Tara bite the dust? ''There's something evil out there that wanted her soul, you're not careful it'll come for yours, too'' and then Maryann shows up to hand Tara's mom her neglectful ass on a plate. Coincidink? I think not.

    >>>

We also get some flashback-y goodness on Sam. It's about time he told Sookie exactly what was on his mind and it's about time Team Ball finally allowed him to become his own character. What the heck is Maryann? My money is still on the glamour side of things, but perhaps she's a leech of some kind? Did she drain Sam's ability when she slept with him? >>>

The last few minutes then round up the quintessential elements of a HBO series: sex and violence. The sex scene was admittedly steamy, both actors bearing all and really selling it. Very well. I can't help but recall a Madtv sketch, however: 'HBO, it's not TV, it's porn' :D And then there's Eric…I'm still not a fan, but thought it was hilarious him coming out only after getting highlights done and then getting all eviscerate-y, nice touch. Poor Lafayette. >>Lets hope season 2 follows the trend of the first year and continues to improve with every subsequent episode.moreless

  • TRIVIA (2)

    • The first scene takes place right after the previous episode. However, Sookie's hair is a lot more curly.

    • The second season is based on Charlaine Harris' second Sookie Stackhouse novel Living Dead in Dallas. However, in the book Lafayette was found dead in Andy's car while in the series it was Miss Jeanette.

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Bill: (to Sookie) I cannot and will not lose you. For all the ways I have dismayed, aggrieved and failed you, I swear I will atone, but I am not sorry. I refuse to apologize for what you have awakened in me. You are my miracle.

    • Sookie: (On learning Jessica is a vampire) You bit her? You drained her blood? Did you have sex with her? How am I supposed to ever trust you if you keep something like that from me?

    • Bill: (to Jessica) Your bedtime will be at 4 a.m. and not a minute later. We also recycle in this house.

  • NOTES (4)

  • ALLUSIONS (1)

    • "Nothing But the Blood" is a play on the line "nothing but the truth" which can be heard in court cases when a person is sworn in to testify.

In keeping with the fundamentalist Church in this show, "nothing but the blood" is also a line from a famous Christian hymn "What can wash away my sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus".
