Real Stories of the Highway Patrol

Show Summary

Real Stories Of The Highway Patrol was a half hour syndicated television program which aired for six seasons from 1992 to 1998 for a total of 780 episodes, in the wake of the popular police reality show of the day, COPS.

Where COPS focused mostly on local police agenices, county sheriffs departments, and the occasional federal agency, Real Stories told the saga of highway patrol officers and state troopers around the country, who also did their own commenting of the story that was being portrayed. Unlike COPS, which was not dramatized and did not use a narrator or host, Real Stories did use dramatization along with actual live shot footage.

The series was hosted by Maury Hannigan, who at the time of production was Commissioner of the California Highway Patrol.
