This story spans several decades of American history, beginning in 1836 when the Texas Revolution was at its height, as the Texan settlers battled Mexican troops for the rights to the great Southern state. The story continues through the American Civil War and into the reconstruction period, following a group of Texas women whose friendship and love help them survive the struggles of the time period. Academy Award-winner Angelina Jolie appears in one of her earliest roles as Georgia Virginia Lawshe Woods, a strong-willed Texan who will do whatever is necessary to protect her family and friends and survive the difficult times.
