Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

  • TRIVIA (6)

    • Some of the plot points of the Tsubasa Chronicle and xxxHOLiC occasionally intertwine with each other.

    • Tsubasa means "Wing" in Japanese

    • Fei Wong REED, the one who wants Sakura's feather, has a familiar name, don't you think? His name resembles another character from CCS, the powerful magician and creator of the Clow Cards, Clow REED. It is possible that this is an indication of the magical prowress of Fei Wong Reed.

    • The Clow Kingdom showed quite a few appearances from Cardcaptor Sakura characters, there is the obvious Syaoran and Sakura, but there is also Touya [his character in CS was Sakura's brother]who is Sakura's brother and King of Clow Kingdom, Yukito [who was Yue's other personality in CS the high priest, former King Clow[who was Clow Reed, creator of the Clow Cards in CS]and Fujitaka[he was Sakura's father in CS] who is Syaoran's adoptive father.

    • The scene of when the high priest, Yukito, was sending Sakura and Syaoran to the dimensional witch, a symbol appears under the pair. The symbol is almost exactly the same as the Clow symbol in Cardcaptor Sakura when Sakura seals a Clow card. The crescent moon in a circle is even positioned the same, on the 'east' character. The difference is the sun in the middle of the intertwined squares on the Clow symbol in CCS is replaced by a crescent moon-like thing in Tsubasa Chronicle. It makes sense because in CCS, Yukito (Yue) is the Guardian of the Clow cards who is represented by the moon.

    • Sakura was stopped from disappearing and her feathers dispersed. Currently there are 26 episodes scheduled, but if each world only recovers one or two feathers the show could get quite long recovering all her feathers (50+ feathers scattered). What could happen is the show ends before all the feathers are collected, with just hinting that the adventure continues till they recover all of them.

  • QUOTES (8)

    • (Fay gets up from the pool where Ashura is sealed)
      Chi: Is she asleep?
Fay: Yeah. After all, it was the only way.
Chi: What are you going to do now, Fay?
Fay: That's right. Since I've already sealed Ashura with my own hands, I can't stay in this kingdom anymore. No... in this world. I must leave now, for a world without Ashura.

    • Kurogane: (laughs) Isn't there anyone stronger out there?
Tomoyo: (watching from afar) Is that really true, Souma?
      Souma: Yes
Tomoyo: I told him to refrain from needless killing.
Souma: What do you think, Princess Tomoyo?
Tomoyo: I guess there's no way to avoid it.

    • Touya: He frustrates me, that kid. But, he's the destined one, right?
Yukito: Yeah. It's Syaoran-kun... the one destined for Princess Sakura. But, my premonitions allow me to see that the future of those two holds many trials. The princess possesses a mysterious power. Even I do not know what it is. But it is a power that will change the world. Also, that power will bring many hardships and much disorder.

    • Sakura: (jumps on Syaoran, causing him to fall down) Syaoran! Welcome home! How is the excavation of the ruin going? Are you hurt? Did you get any fevers? Have you been eating properly?
Syaoran: (politely) Ah, yes. It went well.
      Sakura: Keigo [Japanese formal speech].
      Syaoran: Huh?
Sakura: I told you I don't like it when you speak in keigo.
      Syaoran: But... princess...
      Sakura: Sakura
      Syaoran: Huh?
Sakura: I told you to call me by my name.
      Syaoran: Ah... well... okay.
      Sakura: Sa-ku-ra!
      Syaoran: Sa... Sakura.

    • Kurogane - His name roughly translates to "IRON"

    • Japanese Title: 「必然のデアイ」 - "Hitsuzen no Deai"
      Translation: "An Inevitable Meeting"

    • The magic circle used by Yukito to teleport Syaoran and Sakura is a variation of the magic circles seen in Card Captor Sakura, except that all the celestial symbols are lunar. The CCS circles usually had a sun, star, and moon with one of the three as the "principal" element.

    • Chii: Chobits
Fai's assistant is an organic version of the character Chii, taken from the anime series "Chobits".

    • Cardcaptor Sakura

The first episode of Cardcaptor Sakura has Sakura hearing noises from the basement as she's making dinner. She goes down to investigate and finds it's coming from the book. She opens it to release the seal as well as all the cards.
The first episode of Tsubasa Chronicle has Sakura hearing noises from the ruins as she's looking out from her balcony. She ends up inside the ruins and touches the seal on the floor to release the seal and loses all her feathers.

    • Syaoran

Syaoran's father died in an archaeological dig, leaving him an orphan, but Syaoran felt compelled to continue his father's work. He's closer than ever to uncovering the secrets of the giant wings buried in the sand, but a threat to Sakura's safety sends him on a quest to save her life! The Tsubasa versioni of Syaoran is very different from the character in Cardcaptor Sakura. Where the CS Syaoran is dour, surly, even rude at times, Tsubasa's version is open, friendly—and clearly in love with Sakura.

    • Sakura

While it's clear that Sakura is older than her counterpart from Cardcaptor Sakura, we don't actually know her age yet. She is the princess of Clow, raised by her brother, King Tōya. She's a happy princess, well-loved by her people. Sakura possesses the power to change the world, but it will be a while before she—or we—understand what that means.
