In each episode of this series, Tom Brokaw introduces a Presidential race from America's past, proving biographies of the candidates and explaining why the outcome of the election was either unexpected or marked a turning point in American politics. The series begins with the 1948 election, when Truman defeated Dewey in one of the most famous upsets of all time. The series goes on to explore the election of John F. Kennedy in 1960, Richard Nixon in 1968 and 1972, Ronald Reagan in 1980, Bill Clinton in 1992, and George W. Bush's controversial victory over Al Gore in the year 2000.
