TV Free Burning Man 2008

Show Summary

TV Free Burning Man 2008 is coverage of that year's annual Burning Man event held in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. Started in 1986, Burning Man is described by some as a celebration of radical self-expression as well as a temporary experimental community. It started as a small gathering of 20 people on Baker Beach, in San Francisco, Californian in 1986 and has ballooned into today's desert gathering of 50,000 participants. TV Free Burning Man 2008 covers some of the more famous rituals of Burning Man. Crimson Rose, the Director of Art Management, explains the ritual of the One Flame. It burns in a "cauldron" during the week and is used to light the Burning Man effigy on Saturday evening. One of Burning Man's most sacred traditions, the Temple, is featured. The 2008 version is called Basura Sagrada, meaning "sacred trash", according to Shrine, the man who designed it. The theme for the 2008 event, "American Dream", proved to be controversial. Many long term contributors opted out of that year's event in protest.moreless
