Cartoon that lampoons just about everybody sticks to its guns.

It's South Park versus Scientology!

Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creators of the popular animated series South Park, have angered many factions over the course of their shows nine-year life. Now, however, they may have met their match: Tom Cruise.

Cable channel Comedy Central pulled a repeat Wednesday of a South Park episode that poked fun at Cruise's oft-contested sexuality and his religion, Scientology, which was founded by science-fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard. In the episode, "Trapped In The Closet," Tom Cruise locks himself in a closet after one of the characters on the show is chosen as a Scientology savior.

A cartoon version of Cruise's ex-wife, Nicole Kidman, tries to coax Cruise out, saying, "Don't you think this has gone on long enough? It's time for you to come out of the closet. You're not fooling anyone."

South Park could end with a movie

The sad reality is this: South Park will eventually end. However, don't expect Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny to go away with a black screen for 15 seconds or be thrown into a Latham, Massachusetts, jail. Creator Trey Parker is leaning toward a more glamorous farewell: a sendoff on the big screen.

Chef gets cooked on South Park opener

South Park didn't back down in its tiff with Scientology. Wednesday night's season 10 premiere took aim at recently departed voice actor Isaac Hayes and the religious program founded by science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard.

In the episode, the character of Chef, formerly played by Hayes, appears on the show using audio spliced together from previous episodes. Chef has been away in the "Super Adventure Club," which, in true South Park form, is revealed to be a group that brainwashes victims into becoming pedophiles.

The South Park gang attempts to deprogram Chef by taking him to a strip club. In the end, Chef is burned alive, falls down a ravine, is gored by a tree, and is then eaten alive by a cougar and a bear.

At Chef's funeral, South Park character Kyle says, "We shouldn't be mad at Chef for leaving us. We should ...

South Park picks another fight

South Park is taking aim at any and all who step in the way of freedom of comedic speech. The animated show lashed out its own network, Comedy Central, in an episode that aired Wednesday.

The latest brouhaha occurred after South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker wrote an episode depicting the prophet Muhammad. Muslims consider images of Muhammad to be sacrilegious.

Citing public safety concerns, Comedy Central kyboshed the image due to protests that occurred when images of the prophet appeared in Danish newspapers.

In January, European newspapers ran cartoons depicting Muhammad as a terrorist. Protests turned violent and many Muslim countries boycotted Danish products.

In the episode, a parody of the show Family Guy featured Muhammad coming to the door of the Griffin house and giving Peter a "salmon helmet." Instead of seeing the prophet, the screen said ...

Based on a Christmas card by the now-producers, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, called "The Spirit of Christmas"; South Park is a show about four boys; Eric Cartman, Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, and Kenny McCormick. These four little fourth graders live in one messed up town. From talking poo to un-dead celebrities, to a mystical land of imagination, they see it all. All there is to say, is that... No one is safe. Black, white, Jewish, Christian, Scientologist, and everything in between, this show covers it all, and makes light of just about everything.
