Older Madeline suggests that adoption was the wrong choice for herslef, and is the root cause of her misery in later years. In reality, the fundamantal relationship of mother and daughter is highlighted, each learning to listen and support each other. Unlike the orginal version, 16 year old Madeline and her mother meet the infant, meet the potential adoptive parents, and make the most loving decision in the circumstnaces. Madeline returns to the present having forgiven herself and her mother for adopting out her infant son. This empowered teenager making the best decision for the baby is worth watching.moreless
