Megan McCleary, a Prosecutor whose star is rising, finishes an impassioned closing argument which results in the conviction of the defendant for first degree murder. When returning to her office, her daughter Heather is there asking for permission to attend a weekend camp for honors students. Megan, a racist, denies her daughter permission for the sole reason that a black boy she likes is also attending. Heather storms out of the office saying she won't be home. When Megan goes after her, her car breaks down in a bad neighborhood and she dies of a heart attack.
