  • This story deals with a woman undergoing surgery for her "deformity" which may get her expelled from her society. The entire time we never see her or any other\'s faces. When her bandages come off it is revealed she is a beautiful woman living in a societmoreless

To the previous reviewer, this episode was a remake of a classic from the original series. Which is one of the reasons I didn't like this, the moral and shocks are seriously predicatable and outdated in this age and had no need to be remade. Although it was a faithful adaptation, this show needed to focus on was a legacy of it's own.
  • Another predictable sci fi cliche.

This story sabotaged the point it attempted to make. The audience figured out that the woman was already attractive and everyone else was disfigured 30 seconds into the episode. The succeeding events made the audience sympathize with a character they knew would be attractive and condemn characters they knew would be ugly. For all the good it does the moral of the story they might as well have filmed a story from \"The 1001 Nights\" where the beauty of every heroic character and the ugliness of every evil djinn is expounded on for several pages.

If they had revealed the patient to be the ugly one the audience would have already developed a sympathetic attitude towards her and might realize that it could be better to pretend that people are wrapped in bandages when they judge others.moreless

    • Host: (opening narration) You have been introduced to Miss Janet Tyler, who lives in a very private world of darkness. A universe whose dimensions are the size, thickness and length of the bandages that cover her face. In a moment, we'll witness the removal of those bandages and we'll see what's under them. Keeping in mind, of course, that we're not to be surprised by what er see, because this isn't just a hospital and this patient, Janet Tyler, patient number 307, is not just a woman because this happens to be The Twilight Zone.

    • Host: (closing narration) Now the questions that come to mind: Where is this place, and when is it? What kind of world is this where ugliness is the norm and beauty, the deviation from that norm? You want an answer? The answer is it doesn't make any difference because the old saying happens to be true. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In this year, or 100 years hence, on this planet or wherever there is intelligent life, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Lesson to be learned in The Twilight Zone.
