  • A woman learns that classic line 'Be careful what you wish for' when she wishes for the perfect family.

A mother and her family move into a new hands, and the mother secretly hopes for a fresh start. Bickering teenage children and a naughty dog are apparently the bane of her life. Her only recent hapy memory of her family is the family portrait they have in the living room. Within hours of making her little wish of a perfect family, the dog has been turned into an award-winning poodle, and the teens are upgraded too. No one seems to notice except for the poor mother, who realises that if everyone is going to be upgraded, then it means EVERYONE.

This is a great story with an interesting plot. Except for a few snags:

1)The family. Really, are they that bad? Teenagers who argue and a bad dog. Oh, god help you. A herion addicted son, a slutty daughter and an adulterous husband would ahve made us appreciate the womans situation more.

    2) The ending is rubbish. A little girl is apparently behind the whole episode, because 'perfection is an illusion.' I don't deny that, but couldn't they have illustrated that in a better way than have the whole episode be a computer game? Gah!

The ending irked me, but otherwise it's really worth watching. The actress who plays the mother is great too.moreless

  • TRIVIA (0)

  • QUOTES (3)

    • Host: (opening narration) Perfection. Isn't that something we all yearn for? Annie Macintosh does. She wants the perfect house, the perfect family, the perfect life. But she's about to learn that perfection is an illusion, and a terrifying one at that, in The Twilight Zone.

    • Annie: Philip, this is supposed to be a fresh start, a new beginning.
Philip: Just because we have a new house doesn't mean we're gonna turn into a new family.
Annie: Sometimes, I wish we could.

    • Host: (closing narration) Just a game? Or is it? How do we know we aren't all just characters in some computer game called life? And at any moment, each of us could be replaced by someone a little smarter, a little younger, a little more...perfect.

  • NOTES (1)

    • Tangi Miller's name is incorrectly listed in this episode's opening credits - rather, she appeared in the previous episode "Harsh Mistress."
