  • Arbitrary Law

It is easy to see why this episode was nominated for an Emmy. The culmination of the previous episodes, yet so many new questions answered, and a terrifying ending despite the terrible technical effects involving the owl.

    Great TV.
  • Probably the best episode of the entire series.

This episode was nearly perfect from start to finish. The only thing keeping it from a perfect 10 are the filler scenes regarding Lucy, Andy, and Dick Tremaine, but they are few and far between thankfully. Nearly the entire episode revolves around the resolution of the who killed Laura Palmer storyline by agent Cooper. One of the best aspects of this episode is the fact that although Cooper and company finally figure out who killed Laura (after the audience already knew), no one still knows the entire greater mystery of Bob. By the end of the episode, we learn a few more details about Bob from Mike/Phillip Gerard and from Leland, but we still don't know exactly where Bob comes from - that is saved for later on in season 2. The final sequence proves once and for all that Bob does in fact exist, yet leaves us hanging in a suspenseful and creepy way.
