An earlier draft of the script had Agent Cooper parterning with Sam Stanley on the Banks case. However, when Kyle MacLachlan only comitted to a smaller part, the role of Agent Desmond was created.
Annie Blackburn: "My name is Annie. I've been with Dale and Laura. The good Dale is in the Lodge and he can't get out. Write it in your diary."
Cooper: "Don't take the ring, Laura. Don't take the ring."
The film had its US premiere (It had already opened in France and Japan) in 1992 at the North Bend Theater, in the same town where the series and movie were filmed. This gave rise to the very first Twin Peaks Festival held the following year (1993), organized by fans Pat and Don Shook. The festival continues to be held every year in Washington state, where the pilot and FWWM were filmed.
The original cut of the movie was nearly four hours. A lot of scenes with other characters were filmed but was cut out from the final movie. You could read more about the deleted scenes here.
Lara Flynn Boyle was replaced by Moira Kelly in the role of Donna Hayward.
The taglines for Fire Walk with Me were "This is the last seven days of Laura Palmer" and "In a town like Twin Peaks, no one is innocent."
