  • While I always get a laugh from the show, this was one of the best there has been...

    9.6
This show always makes me laugh. But this episode had me almost in tears from laughing so hard. It may even be better than the Christmas episode, which I thought was one of the best ever. The plot line made for a classic - Jake hears his mom having sex and his dad gets to explain what's happening while Charlie and Berta try to add things. Then Charlie remembers walking in on his own mother having sex. All in all the plot line made for a great story and the writers delivered one of their best performances yet. This is one I won't soon forget (or delete from my TiVo).moreless
  • This isn't the OC, b*tch.

    9.4
If you are not of a certain age group, the humor in this episode (and most of the series) will go right by you. And it is obvious that the show does not care if you don't, they know who their audience is. Slowly but surely, this total absurdity is starting to make sense. One almost has to have a degree in (pop) psychology to understand the subliminal humour hidden behind the easily accessible slapstick and wisecrack that explains the character's behaviour.

It is always amazing to watch a show written and acted by people who can make it seem so simple to introduce new excuses and reasons for their characters in every other episode, and never lose the fun factor. It's also amazing how some reviewers refuse to admit they just aren't old and wise enough to watch the show.moreless
  • Very Funny

Jake shares that he has heard his mother having sex with her fiancé, Herb; this revelation brings up a repressed memory for Charlie. This leads Charlie to seek help from Rose. Alan: Jake can hear you two in bed.

    Judith: Oh God! Oh God!

    Herb: He didn’t hear that.

Alan: Look, Jake, it’s not that you have to be particularly smart to have sex…

Berta & Charlie: Yeah, look at your dad!
  • Repressed memories

    9.5
Jake reveals he can hear Judith and Herb in bed while he is on his room. This makes Alan worried, and Evelyn says theres nothing to worry about and that "Charlie would know". Charlie then remembers seeing his mother in bed with another guy similar to Yosemite Sam.

This episode was so hilarious! It cracks me up! So funny! Charlie discovering his mother's affairs was hilarious! That was amazing! This episode is great! At first I thought it wouldnt be that good, but look at that: it was! If you like to laugh in a Two and a Half Men way, if you like the show Two and a Half Men, then this episode is certainly for you!moreless

  • QUOTES (12)

    • Jake: I'm still awake!
      Judith: Happy?
Herb: I may never be happy again.

    • Charlie: (to Alan) Let's not forget how I convinced you that mom's douche bag was your air supply.

    • Charlie: (to Alan) I'll tell you what's unnatural—the look on that melon's face. Fruit should not look surprised.

    • Alan: I bought him two pies.
Judith: Why would you do that?
Alan: It seemed easier than explaining to him that his mother's fiancé is a sexual moron.

    • Jake: I bet monkeys like banana cream pie.

    • Charlie: It's called a bait-and-switch, and it's a felony!
Evelyn: Oh, well, look at you, taking a moral high ground, and with nary a bottle nor a whore in sight. Bravo!

    • Herb: Truth is, I kind of like the instruction—takes out all the guess work.
      Alan: Sure.
Herb: I tend to meander when I don't have game plan.
Alan: Yeah, well that's never a problem with Judith. She's the Vince Lombardi of sexual intercourse.
Herb: She did teach me to play through the pain.
Alan: Yeah. 'Tape it up and get back in there!'

    • Alan: He's worried that when he grows up, he won't be smart enough to have sex.
Judith: Why would he think that?
Alan: Because he hears you giving Herb instructions like he's a blind guy in a mine field.

    • Alan: Jake can hear you two in bed.
      Judith: Oh, God! Oh, God!
      Herb: He didn't hear that.

    • Alan: Look, Jake, it's not that you have to be particularly smart to have sex…
Berta & Charlie: Yeah, look at your dad!

    • Evelyn: Charlie is my #1 son.
Charlie: Yeah, but she treats me like #2.

    • Jake: He wants me to stay here tonight so he and mom can have sex.
Alan: Oh, Jake, I'm sure that's not the reason. Right, Herb?
Herb: No, that's pretty much it.

  • NOTES (1)

    • The German episode title is "Superman und Dornröschen", meaning "Superman and Sleeping Beauty". The French title is "Les murs ont des oreilles", meaning "The Walls Have Ears". The Italian title is "Torta di banane", meaning "Banana Pie". The Spanish title is "Tranquilo, meteoro", an exact translation.

  • ALLUSIONS (2)

    • Evelyn pointedly introduces Charlie to her Asian client as her "#1 son," borrowing the manner in which Asian detective Charlie Chan introduced his eldest son.

    • Charlie tells Alan that, when he was younger, he walked in on his mother having sex with a red-mustached man. "Don't worry, Speed Racer," the man told the young Charlie, "I'm not hurting your mom."
