Two Men in a Trench

Show Summary

In this documentary series, archaeologists Tony Pollard and Neil Oliver visit the sites of historic British battles in an attempt to bring the past to life using state of the art archaeological techniques and their ability to tell an entertaining story about those who fought and died in the battles that shaped Britain's history.

They have also written two popular tie-in books based on the series, published by Michael Joseph in hardcover and Penguin in paperback.

  • Two young archeologists take a rather untradditional look at some of the historic battles fought around Britain

The program, ably presented by two likely lads, takes the viewer into realms of possibility by revealing what is left of some of our most important eras of history. We have been taught through our schooling system who ruled and when but not the how. Both presenters know and understand their craft and ably present it. It has widened my, and my families viewpoints on many historic battles. Full marks to them and their team and would like to see a lot more. There must be other historic battle sites for them to get their hands dirty on. Maybe they could cover some WW1 or WW2 battles from another angle or perspective.moreless
