  • That woman is so up herself!

    9.0
This wasn't one of the better episodes of the season, but it was still quite interesting. The idea of Betty meeting Matt's mom was a good one, in my opinion, but I absolutely hated that woman.

The episode seemed a little too long for me, and in my opinion, it focused too much on the events with the mother, which could've been squeezed into just half an episode, or perhaps less.

I also thought that the humour levels were down on the last few weeks, and I didn't laugh much during the episode.

I don't recommend this episode, and it's not as interesting as any other ones this season, but still, it's worthwhile.moreless
  • Ugly Betty still continues to provide high quality entertainment and this episode is no exception.

Ugly Betty still continues to provide high quality entertainment and this episode is no exception. Betty meets Matt's mother, Victoria, who is every bit the unpleasant snob you expect her to be. Matt comes good though and Betty is more than capable of looking after herself. There were also some great comedic moments with Wilhelmina and Marc (one of my favourite characters!) when they try to raise money to help keep Mode going by selling off some of her possessions and economising on snacks (almonds and soda water instead of champagne and caviar). There was also a brilliant moment when Suzuki St. Pierre spilled the beans on this on fashion TV. Great stuff!moreless
  • Season 3, Episode 18.

    9.5
Betty comes face to face with Matt's mother. - Amazing storyline. I liked it. I haven't seen must of Ugly Betty this season. I liked the whole mushroom cap thing, and Matt was awesome for taking the blame for it. Cute couple.

Wilhelmina devises a way to make money fast whilst Daniel deals with Molly. -- I liked the Wilhelmina storyline. I liked when she was showing off that she had an afternoon champagne and caviar and then she got almonds and Seltzer. LOL!

The Suarez family attempt to set Hilda and Archie up on a date. -- Hilda is hot! I loved her during the dinner!

    Good episode overall! :)moreless

    • Claire: So, did you wow Victoria Hartley with your take on torture?
Betty: No. Not quite. She changed the topic.
      Claire: Oh, that old trick.
Betty: And then she told me I was completely wrong for her son.
Claire: Ooh, she's really playing by the rich bitch handbook.

    • Marc: I just don't want our budget snacks to set off another one of your … episodes.
Wilhelmina: I swear Marc, if you took a picture of me on your cell phone I will kill you … and eat you. But, I've arrived at a better place and Daniel helped me get there.
      Marc: The Boy Blunder? How?

    • Archie: Your eyes have a story they wish to tell and I have my whole life. And I listen well.
Hilda: That's a Justin Timberlake song!

    • Wilhelmina: Marc, do you like what you see?
      Marc: Uh huh.
Wilhelmina: Well get used to it. Because starting now, Mama is downsizing.
Marc: Not where it counts, baby!

    • Victoria: What is an appetizer doing on my painting?

    • Suzuki: (on TV) But I've saved the best piece of gossip masquerading as news till last. Which fabulous fashion world editor Mode-ivated by a recent reversal of fortune has begun to sell off her clothes Willy-nilly? Oh, and this titbit positively Slatered me. He daily snack is now a healthy combination of food stamp friendly nuts and soda water. It's all so delicious and humiliating. I'd tell you more but I'm on my way out to a local thrift store to purchase one of Wilhelmina Slater's former possessions. Oops! Did I say her name?

    • Marc: Hey, Willy. I just got a bulletin from Engineering, all the TVs seem to be turned off, they're doing some sort of tests, or something. No computers either, there's a virus going around, or something.
Wilhelmina: Marc, what is going on?
Marc: Nothing. It's just Tech stuff. It's completely normal. Don't read any papers tomorrow. Bad ink.
Wilhelmina: Don't make me hit you.

    • Amanda: (about Matt) You know, B, you are playing this Matt thing perfectly. A few more moves and you will be in the gold digger hall of fame.
Betty: I am not a gold digger. I couldn't care less about Matt's money.
Amanda: And, cut, print, Oscar. Don't change a word, you nailed it.

    • Amanda: You never open up to me any more. When we were roomies we shared everything.
Betty: No, Amanda. You shared everything. And some of it was weird.

    • Wilhelmina: Marc. Stop crying. If you'd like, you may try on the sable one last time.

    • Marc: Willy? Selling your possessions? Isn't that like one rung above appearing on a reality show?

    • Betty: (to Ignacio about Matt) He stayed in my office for, like, an hour, when I worked late.
Matt: Yeah. I read every issue of Mode over the last three years. Lot of boobs.

    • Justin: I don't get hockey. All that ice and no one's figure skating.
