The three fear they may have leaked the idea to someone at the rival mag. Actually I wasn't thrilled by this episode although I liked Betty, Amanda and Marc all working together and I did like Amanda trying to eat plastic grapes. I also liked Amanda accosting Ignacio for some flan. I don't really care for the whole Ignacio HMO storyline it's kind of a yawn for me. I'm sure some people might like it but it's kinda blah.

As nice as Betty's family might think Walter is I still don't think they should push her to reunite with him. He cheated on her with the biggest skank on the block, why would they want her to be with someone who would treat her like that?moreless
  • The most arcane episode of the series...

    9.0
Well, probably not as great as its predecessor ("Queens for a Day"), but another wonderful episode. An advantage of this episode is that we have more of two hilarious characters: Marc and Amanda. The scenes involving the two of them, Betty and the Suarez family are the funniest of this episode. A second and very important advantage of this installment is the mystery around the murder of Fey Sommers. The series keeps providing us more questions to answer: who really killed Fey Sommers, what's the real secret of this charming music box and what's the involvment of Bradford Meade and his wife?moreless
  • It's not only one of the best episodes of Ugly Betty but also one of the best episodes I have seen in years.

    9.4
This epsiode of Ugly Betty is actually one of my favorite of the whole series run because of the lovely plot and the adventurous and comedic storylines around Betty,Marc and Amanda secret. The acting of America Ferrera is one of her bests during the whole series as she gives us a great performance full of comedic, embarrassing and sad turns.Marc and Amanda are also greatly exposed as they team up with Betty. This episode shows us perfectly how badly influence the lying has and how we should not lie.The Betty's reaction during the fake snow scene is one of the best of the episode. The fake snow scene is the best scene of the whole episode delivering a brave storytelling, romance and tears at the same time. One of the most heartwarming episodes in the history of television.moreless
  • Great

An absoloutley great episode. The best one so far. There's a christmas party for everyone. The next day, MODE is in turmoil because their big idea for their shoot has been stolen from a rival magazine, and Whilemina thinks that it was someone at the party who spilled the secret. She narrows it down to Betty, Marc and Amanda. They form an uneasy alliance, so they can all keep their jobs as their all not sure if they leaked something the night before. Daniel and Whilemina have to come up with a new shoot, as their original idea was ruined. It turns out that it wasn't betty, amanda or marc, it was actually Fat Carol and Whilemina fires her. Meanwhile, Justin (Betty's nephew) skips school to come to MODE, pretending he has a project.moreless
  • Series classic...so far! lol

    9.7
Up until now, Betty was just getting started with Mode and everything was knew and everyone was learning about the characters. Some of the characters that I previously dislikes, such as Amanda and Mark, I now really like. Before they were rude little sh1ts but now, we see their truthful side and even though towards the begging of this episode they were being really fake to Betty, they turned around. When they started eating everything and came over to Betty's place we got a look at their truthful side which was much nicer. Hilda kind of has it tough, raising Justin but there is his auntie and grandfather. I thought that it was so nice when Marc was looking at Justin ans thinking about what he is going through because at the same rate, Justin is a future Marc with the whole fashion, girl feature personality.moreless

Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (4)

    • In the 'Previously on Ugly Betty' segment is a scene in which Hilda tells Betty that their HMO won't cover their father anymore. This is actually out of place since this scene was featured in episode 11 'Swag' which was originally supposed to be aired before 'Fey's Sleigh Ride' but was postponed.

    • The components of the music box in this episode clearly do not move when it is heard playing.

    • Daniel mentions that MODE is 50 years old, which means it has been in business since 1956.

    • The song that Walter sings to Betty at the end is, of course, 'Beauty and the Beast' from the movie Beauty and the Beast. It doesn't really come as a surprise that the song comes from a Disney movie since Disney owns ABC.

  • QUOTES (13)

    • (Hilda grounds Justin for skipping school)
Hilda: And that means no Fashion TV for a month!

    • Ignacio: Betty, maybe we should offer your friends a snack. We have flan.
      Amanda: What's a flan?
      Ignacio: It's a delicious custard.
      Amanda: Oh, bring it!

    • Amanda: (to Ignacio) H-ola.
      Ignacio: Actually it's "Ola".
Amanda: No, there's an "h" in it.

    • Wilhelmina: What Daniel is trying to say is kiss your loved ones goodbye! And expect to come home to dead pets!
      Marc: Smoopy!

    • Marc: Nice vest!
Justin: Ralph Lauren, we got it half price because there is a small hole but you can't even see it.
Marc: So, the kids at school, do they like it?
Justin: No. They don't really get me.
Marc: (inhales sharply) A word of advice, be who you are, wear what you want, just learn how to run real fast.

    • Carol: (as she walks onto the elevator and sees Betty, Amanda and Mark) Too bad about your Wilhelmina meeting…We'll miss you around here.
      Amanda: Shut up Carol.
Carol: I don't know if there's rehab for whatever this is. But consider it before starting your job hunt. And Betty, I think I might miss you most of all. (exits elevator) It was nice having someone fatter than me.
(the three exit the elevator starting with Mark)
      Mark: Fat Carol.
      Amanda: Fat Carol.
      Betty: Fat Carol.

    • Wilhelmina: We'll work with each other to fix it. I'll start with the leak.
Daniel: I'll tackle the new spread.
Wilhelmina: Perfect. We're in this together.
Daniel: Are you as creeped out as I am?
      Wilhelmina: More.

    • Justin: (looking at Amanda's shoes) Oh my god! Manolo Blahnik's Spring 2004!
Mark: Wearing 2 year old shoes, even I didn't catch that!

    • Justin: This dress is fabulous! I think I'd belt it.
Christina: That young man is vintage Valentino.
      Justin: I'm just saying.
Christina: Really, do you think? Go on then, go on to the accessory closet get a belt and see what it looks like.

    • Marc: (sarcastically) I have that same Jesus nightlight at home!

    • Daniel: Ok. Alright. Off that. The sand... is desert sand... like Africa, so maybe instead of Christmas we do other winter holidays. Kwanzaa?
Wilhelmina: Did you just gesture at me when you said Kwanzaa?
      Daniel: No!
      (Vincent Bianchi smirks)

    • Daniel: (to Betty) I'm sure your nephew is sick of the closet by now.

    • Walter: (to Betty) You're drinking now? You used to get woozy from your astringent.
