  • Decent episode.

Unfortunately I missed the pilot, so this was the first episode I saw, but it wasn't bad at all. It wasn't as funny as it could or should have been, but there were some great moments, and there is potential for this to grow.

I'm particularly liking the character of Aava, who seems pretty entertaining, and her dynamics with the baby were rather hilarious at times!

A good episode! Lots of potential for this to improve and I hope it does!moreless
  • It's Ironic!

I thought this episode was great, better then the Pilot. It was relatable, with wanting to fit in, but at the same time completely ridiculous. I loved Ava trying to bond with Amy, it shows that while she is somewhat self centered, she also does care about people, in her way.

It had those perfectly awkward moments that made me want to mute the TV, but they were so brilliant I just couldn't bring yourself to do it. My favorite moment was when the police showed up and called Chris, and his phone started playing Hey, Soul Sister.

All in all this was a fun and believable, and made me want the best for this show all the more!moreless
  • Chris and Reagan meet the cool new neighbors who move in.

I still think "Up All Night" has a good chance to get better and better. Right now, they're still figuring out the kinks in the show, and one of those biggest kinks is Ava, who Maya Rudolph does a good job playing but who also doesn't seem to fit in the show. The show works best when it has Will Arnett and Christina Applegate working together, giving rapid-fire dialogue and jokes to each other.

This episode finds them trying to impress the coolAustralianneighbors who move into the neighborhood. Chris and Reagan, however, find themselves forgetting how to be cool ever since they had Amy. They try to figure out ways to impress them, whether it's through bringing them a bottle of "te-qwee-la" or by showing them their awesome tastes in music, like Train or The Mighty Mighty Bosstones (the use of Train in the episode was actually pretty funny, especially near the end).

I also loved the awkwardness of the episode. It reminded me of The Office in the early days and Curb Your Enthusiasm in terms of the social niceties that the Brinkleys were trying to keep up on. Of course, it's not like I think Chris or Reagan is Larry David, but just the awkward feeling I got from it reminded me of the show.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the show blossoms and comes into itself. I think it's almost there but it just needs to figure out how to cut back on Maya Rudolph without writing her out and how to be consistently funny. They're almost there, but not quite.

  • just when ithough...

so just when i though that ms applegate got a mature role on a show i get slapped on the face.... so we got this couple that trying do hard to fit in onto their neighbors and then become lame.

dont get me wrong i liked the comedy alot and i think its funny the whole parenthood they going thru but its kinda lame... and even thou im not a dad .. this is why i dont wanna have unexpected kids.. so that i dont go nuts when i wanna do something that i couldnt do if i was a parent of a baby.

anyways... fun show to kill 19 mnts.. yep thats how much i got 19mnts plus commercials.moreless
