    Trivia, Notes, Quotes and Allusions

    FILTER BY TYPE

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • George Baker, who plays Jamus Bondus in this episode, is linked to the real Bond series. He dubbed some of George Lazenby's lines in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", effectively playing Bond, and appeared in the 1977 "The Spy Who Loved Me". Around the filming of the latter he played the role of Tiberius in that other BBC Roman classic, "I, Claudius".

      • Goof: When Jamus Bondus tries to knock down the door, the walls clearly move as well.

      • To announce the arrival of Jamus Bondus the famous Bond theme (by Monty Norman) is played on the harp.

    • QUOTES (2)

      • Lurcio: In this very room a man has been done to death.
Ammonia: Oh, nonsense, Lurcio. I'm the only one here and I'd never do any man to death.

      • Pussus Galoria: I shouldn't have said that. It just slipped out.
Lurcio: Did it? I wish I had been there when it happened.

    • NOTES (0)

    • ALLUSIONS (1)

      • Spurious: I'm dying. Dying!
Lurcio: But you cannot die here! This is the living room. (When the audience both laughs and groans, Lurcio addresses the viewer.) You wouldn't get this from Harold Pinter.

British playwright Harold Pinter (1930 - ) is known for his strangely comedic, dark plays such as "The Caretaker", "The Dumb Waiter" and "The Birthday Party".
