Heretic's Fork was a superb episode of V. I really enjoyed watching this episode as Hobbes tortures the human prisoner, Val learns the truth about what is under the V's skin, and Anna learns of the Hybrid baby and makes it a top priority. This episode was filled with lots of exciting scenes that move the story lines forward, develops the characters, and has great special effects which make the episode fun to watch. I like seeing the interactions between Anna and Lisa. I was surprised by Val's decision, and how Lisa played Erica and Tyler against each other. This episode had a great ending, as we see the soldiers growing and Hobbes taking a turn to an even darker place!!!!!!!moreless
  • A bit more adrenalin then the usual episode, which was a good thing and… the story moves forward.

    8.0
We finally get to see on of the V soldiers and… I must say I wasn't too impressed. Okay so he did a take a few bullets, and an axe to the chest (curtsey of Hobbs) and still kept coming but the way Anna referred to him, it gave me the impression that she was talking about some deadly creature with awesome powers. Turns out, it is just another V muscle head….blah.

Ryan finally comes clean about who he really is to Val, and even after saving her ass numerous times, she still dumps him. I tell you man, women you tell them the truth, they freak out, and if you don't, they still freak out. Tyler is even dumber in this episode. I mean the kid's 17, the perfect age to play the young and stupid character, while his V girlfriend is having second thoughts about him moving in. True she's hot, and but she's still an alien, yet Tyler has no qualms about leaving his family for her…what a douche. Chad gets his treatment and a new leash from Anna. The dude's all but willing to do anything she asks now.

I am still struggling to understand the purpose of the Fifth Column; do they want the V's to leave Earth or just want the others to realize that Anna's bliss is not as good as human emotions. This whole emotion thing kind of reminds of the movie Equilibrium…odd huh? And what is the point of a V soldier? Sure it can kick ass but compared to Humans the Vs are much stronger anyway and a normal V is also lot smarter then the muscle head so I am thinking it's just a way to for Anna to make more of her empty threats.

Anyway, not a bad episode; the writers are finally realizing that injecting a bit of adrenaline in a show like this is a good thing. I hope it gets picked up for a second season.moreless
  • A 'heretic's fork', we are told early on, is a piece of torture equipment that was a rather effective way of getting people to divulge their secrets. It's an interesting choice of title that points to a more morally ambiguous atmosphere running throughoutmoreless

    8.5
We begin where last week left off with the human assassin, who is now strung up in a basement and is sweating profusely. As he justifies his actions, we have an interesting scene with possibly the most polarized version of a good cop/bad cop routine ever to grace the screen. On one hand we have the good Father Jack and on the other is the sociopath mercenary, Hobbes. This little moral dilemma plays out rather how you'd expect, but this doesn't make it any less of an adrenaline rush. Suddenly the show has it's very own Jack Bauer, only unlike Jack, Hobbes is always a complete b*stard. Read my full review here:

    • Ryan: I need you to get into the car - okay? The visitors know about us now and will be looking for us.
      Valerie: Why?
      Ryan: They want our baby.

    • Ryan: We have to go.
Valerie: Where are we going to go?
Ryan: Somewhere where the V's won't find us.

    • Valerie: I don't want to see you again because I don't forgive you.
Ryan: It was always for you... everything I ever did was for you.

    • Erica: I'm sorry. I'm... I'm hearing this for the first time and it's from my son's girlfriend, and I'm... I feel like he's slipping away from me and he doesn't know it, and... I want him to be happy.
      Lisa: I'm sorry, Mrs. Evans.
      Erica: It's not your fault.
      Lisa: It is.

    • Father Jack: Until we know for a fact he's not who he says he is, we treat him with decency.
Kyle: Human decency's a privilege, father. He's lost his. And, when we prove to you that he's lying, you're gonna lose yours, too.

    • Anna: A human female is carrying a visitor baby. The existence of this baby puts our entire species at risk. A hybrid can be born with human emotions, love. The Fifth Column could breed an entire generation of hybrids to fight against us. It is a mongrel, a threat to our survival.
