  • MEYER IN 2012

Veep: Hail to the She-ief (Plus: Watch the Whole First Episode Online)

The new HBO comedy starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus as a bumbling vice president is a hilarious look at the broken world of politics.

  • Episode Summary

Selina Meyer is the Vice President of the United States. She and her staff are still finding their way in DC and the new job. She takes up a pet project, which requires her staff to unleash damage control.

    • "Fundraiser" is a nice but awfully confusing start to the series.

Veep is one of my favorite shows. That being said, the first couple episodes weren't my favorite. I had to rewatch this episode three times to fully understand the plot. It was really funny though! There were many great lines, but Selina yelling at Amy was the best.
    • Fundraiser

Veep comes off as a sharper, funnier and much more believable version of Parks and Recreation. Except for Matt Walsh, this cast fits perfectly together, their characters work, and seeing the struggle of this ensemble made for good television.

      A show with potential.
    • Swearing does NOT a comedy make!

This has just started in the UK on Sky Atlantic, so I thought I'd download a couple of episodes to see what it's like.

While it seems to have promise, this latest fad of using F*** every ten seconds or so, simply isn't funny, it's peurile.

Tony Hale basically plays the same "Ass kisser" he did in Chuck and does it very well.

I haven't seen Anna Chlumsky since "My Girl" and "The American President" and hasn't she grown up nice (apart for the swearing, obviously).

I believe this program has potential but the writers MUST stop thinking that use of the word F*** at every possible opportunity make for good TV.

      It DOESN'T!!!moreless
    • Simply Hilarious Genius Work by ALL

I think a show like this must say something about where the viewer comes from...

my wife and I both think it is pure genius...we watch each episode repeatedly hanging on every nuance of acting, directing and is superbly written, casted and directed and the actors are all amazing in their roles...I hate sitcoms! never watched Seinfeld, Cheers etc etc etc..but when HBO started presenting "Curb Your Enthusiasm" for the first time in my life I could not wait each week to see what LD and company had up their mischievous sleeves..I warmed up to Da Ali G Show and Extras was beautiful..Veep and Curb stand in a class by themselves...I have loved every episode so far and hope this lasts as long as Curb...what a wonderful diversion on a Sunday evening to start every week..THANK you allmoreless
    • Worst. Series. Ever.

Okay, maybe not, but it is sure to be cancelled soon. And here is why:

      - Bad dialogues

      - not even one interesting character

      - no pretty intern

      - not even interesting political issues

      - looks a lot like 30 Rock...
