  • "Tears" is a nice season finale to a great season.

    8.5
In the season finale, Selina is forced to cry on camera. My favorite part of the episode was Furlong's scenes, and the last five minutes of the episode. That and Mike's "16 year" speech.

The season finale of Veep was okay. Could have been better if they did not make the candidate for Governor so entirely unlikable. I did laugh at a few Mike lines here, which is a miracle in its own right.

Looking forward to the second season.
  • Selina's tears help her out... briefly

    9.5
As always the dialogue is great. On brainstorming how to manipulate the media through Selina's crying: "The absent mother blubber" and "Chinese daughter torture" were winners.

The will she / won't she endorsement dance was perfect.

8 episodes were far too few. Very glad the second season will have 10.

    • Amy Brookheimer: Shit. Shit. Twitter eruption. It's trending.
Selina Meyer: Amy, what's going on?
Amy Brookheimer: Um, you're trending ma'am.
Mike McLintock: I'm on Twitter, but it wants me to create a new account. I don't know how to do this!

    • Platinum Donor: I have some great ideas about tax reform I wanted to talk to you about.
Selina Meyer: I wanna hear 'em.
Platinum Donor: Well, there's two types of people, okay? You got grabbers. And then you have... the other kind. I don't have a name for that. The ones that don't grab. The grabbers alright. They take the world by the scrotum, okay? And they make it happen.
Selina Meyer: This is just riveting stuff.

    • Mike McLintock: I'm sorry about your tears.
      Selina Meyer: Yeah.
Mike McLintock: They suck. You know my papaw used to say it's always darkest before the storm, so... (beat) Oh, it's dawn. The dawn. It's always darkest before the dawn and then he would kiss me.
