  • The first season (and sadly the series) ends with Sheriff Lamb and Savino joining forces to bring Porter Gainsley to justice.

"Sons of Nevada" made it all the more disappointing that CBS cancelled such a great show. As Dec1964 said it would have been nice to see what finally becomes of Katherine for example. Also despite the fact that she claimed she has "moved on" I think Mia and Jack would wind up together again. There was more to that story. It really is too bad we will not see where that story will go. What was very good about the climax of this episode was it showed just who Savino and the Lambs are. Ralph, Jack and Dixon had a golden opportuntiy for revenge that they would have gotten away with for sure. However in the end they showed they are men of the law and did the right thing. Savino's angry objections to not killing Porter Gainsley show just who he is as well. "Vegas" had so many more stories to tell. It's unfortunate we will not hear them.moreless

I am just sad to see such a great show being cancelled. Great cast, story and characters. Sometimes I simply do not understand some decisions like that. Too bad...
  • Gone !!

So they have cancelled the show. Not much of a reason given well except the usual not pulling in the viewers, it was a good show but these big wigs are expecting a winner straight out of the box and when it does not perform it's gone they have no idea what is and what's not a good show.

I for one enjoyed it very much I only hope that what ever takes it place will be worth viewing and not some brain killing life sucking reality showmoreless
  • Vegas.

What can i say, CBS did tie up loose ends, but i was hoping to see Katherine at least come out of her coma at the end. Not to mention i was also hoping that Mia & Jack would've gotten back together, but that was not meant to be. Glad everything else played out the way i was hoping, well at least Dixon & Yvonne road off into the sunset together. Now to the Writing Staff Thank You For Keeping Me Entertained Throughout This Whole Season & The Directors & Everyone Else Who Was Involved In The Show. For The Cast, Thank You For Giving Me 21hrs Of Pure Entertainment. No Secret I Loved This Show, It Will Be Missed. 20 / 10.moreless

The outstanding acting, writing, directing, casting, creativity is part of this and every episode!! This episode is wonderful on so many levels and speaking on behalf of your fans, we thank you for giving us as much closure as is possible given the circumstances!

Yes, we'd love to see more from these characters and time. Of Vegas and how it changed during the 1960s with the rest of the country. How it and we, as a nation, survived the death of JFK and Robert, MLK, Vietnam, the riots, drugs, the sexual revolution, the last decade before major technology changes start, and so many other historical events ending with landing on the Moon.

I'm not sure why the series never caught on. The acting and actors were top notch. The writing, especially this episode, was first rate and gave us drama each week.

Maybe people just aren't ready to relive the '60s. Young kids and adults don't care about what went on 50 years ago. The middle age want to remember other aspects of the '60s and their parents don't want to remember the '60s cause to many of them it was the beginning of the end. It ended the great times of the '50s and nothings been good since Ike left office, in their minds.

In the end, it doesn't matter CBS isn't renewing the series and this episode gave us a wonderful send off and showed us how Lamb was able to stay Sheriff all those many years, in real life. The creators, Dennis Quaid, and the writers did an outstanding job bringing this larger than life character to life and allowed for 10.5 hours 1961-1962 Vegas come to life again.

Am I disappointed? Sure! I was looking forward to seeing how the writers handled the upcoming events in Chicago, Vegas, and the USA. Especially given Savino coming up from Cuba and his already discussing Castro. I was hoping somehow we'd get a whiff of the Bay of Pigs or even hear Savino had an insight into the assassination of JFK all in season 2. Then again maybe this was never the plan for the series to look at the country's history at the same time. We'll never know, for sure.

In this respect, we can leave on a great note, as the series leaves the characters (for the most part) in great positions for the future and lined up for the fandom stories that are sure to come. Thank for each and everyone of you for a great time!
