Veronica Mars

Season 2 Episode 17

Plan B

Aired Tuesday 9:00 PM Apr 05, 2006 on UPN

  • Trivia

    • In this episode, Veronica tells Logan she knows he plagiarized the movie Easy Rider in his essay. The reason she knows is that he made her watch it a lot while they were together.

In Season 2 Episode 15 ("The Quick And The Wed"), Logan shows his affection for this movie as Hannah points out: "Easy Rider. Your choice, not mine. I should be the one sulking."

    • When Woody visits Keith towards the end, he says how nice it is of Veronica to come help her dad at work on her lunch break. The clock on the wall clearly says its 3:25 PM... that's a long lunch break!

    • When talking with Mac about Beaver, Veronica opens up her locker without the need of the combination.

  • Quotes

    • Weevil: What pisses me off is that I think loving you cost Felix his life. It seems to me you never gave a damn about him.
      Molly: I loved him.
Weevil: No, I loved him! And you know how you can tell? 'Cause I'm the one who cares enough to keep trying to find out who killed him.

    • Weevil: You know, an 09er could come in here with tea leaves and a ouija board and they'd send out a SWAT team. It's time for Plan B.
Veronica: Not just yet, Dirty Harry.
Weevil: In case you haven't noticed, I ain't no mick cop.
      Veronica: Uh... okay. Dirty Sanchez?

    • Mac: So not that I'm an expert in this sorta stuff, but four months, typical high school boy, there should be some... under the... bra action, no?
Veronica: Let me consult my Idiot's Guide to Wanton Behavior. Basically, you're asking me because I'm the sluttiest person you know?
Mac: Um, 'slutty' is your word choice. Mine was 'worldly'.
Veronica: Hm. So four months, and nada?
      Mac: Hand-holding, kissing.
      Veronica: With tongue?
      Mac: Some tongue.
      Veronica: Ass grabbing?
Mac: Helped me brush the dog hair off my pants once.
      Veronica: Mmm.
Mac: So this is bad, right?
Veronica: Not so much bad, as...
      Mac: It's weird.

    • Logan: See, when things become unimportant to me my memory tends to get a little fuzzy...wait a minute! (pauses) Who are you?

    • Veronica: Mmmm... I made out once, back in the day. I think he had me pinned up against a woolly mammoth!

    • Gia: I think you run from the truth.
Logan: Only when it's chasing me.
Gia: Do you know what I think? I think you use sarcasm and anger as a way to keep people from getting too close to you.
Logan: You know, I do. But it doesn't always work.

    • Gia: Hi, welcome to the Sadie Hawkins Spring Fling. Enjoy!
Logan: Don't worry, gang, if she's a two at ten, she'll be a ten at two.

    • Veronica: What about you? Anyone on your radar?
Jane: Well, I've got a dilemma. I'm torn between this sweet band dork and this all-hands Nubian prince.
Veronica: Oooh. Tell me more about this band dork.

    • Jane: I heard the FBLA won the drawing to host the Sadie Hawkins dance. Dances are the best fundraisers - the band made like three grand at last year's.
Veronica: (gesturing to her face) This face... right here? My over-the-moon face.

    • Cassidy: (to Mac) Good luck getting laid.

    • Logan: So this is staking out, huh? It looks sexier in the movies.
Veronica: Did you hear anything from Hannah?
      Logan: Does deafening silence count?
Veronica: You know, I'm not sure, but I think when they start shipping your girlfriends off, you are officially a bad boy. (they high-five each other)
Logan: Her dad and your dad should get together and go bowling.

    • Woody: I, Logan Echolls, do solemnly swear to faithfully execute the office of Honorary Deputy Commissioner of Balboa County, California.
Logan: I do. Now, if you'll excuse me. (turns and walks away)
      Woody: Where are you going?
Logan: I'm going to fire the sheriff.

    • Jane: I'm seventeen years old and my mom decided that last night was the perfect opportunity to give me the sex talk. (Wallace is distracted by Jackie) Wallace?
Wallace: Yeah, uh, my lecture was one word: Don't.

    • Keith: Logan?
Logan: That's Honorary Deputy County Commissioner Echolls to you.

    • Weevil: I need your help.
Veronica: Ah, if I had fifty bucks every time someone said that.
Weevil: Look, I know it's a drag being you, and...
Veronica: No, seriously. I'm gonna need fifty bucks if you expect me to keep listening.

    • Sheriff Lamb: Look up Eli Navarro. Gotta be something outstanding we can book him on.
Weevil: Oh, if I did it? It's outstanding.
Sheriff Lamb: Still picking winners, huh Veronica?
Veronica: I told you - when I start picking losers, it's all you!

    • Veronica: Damn my curiosity.

  • Notes

  • Allusions

    • Logan: Let me know when that time comes. Until then, you know me: I'll just be speaking softly and carrying a big stick.
Logan's line is similar to President Theodore Roosevelt's much quoted line "Speak softly and carry a big stick" first used in his speech at the Minnesota State Fair in 1901. The phrase became the description of US foreign policy during Roosevelt's presidency. It originates from an West African proverb.

    • Logan: Veronica. Ask not what Logan can do for you, but what you do for Logan.

Logan's line is similar to President John F. Kennedy's line, "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country." from his 1961 inaugural address.

    • Keith: Logan?
Logan: That's Honorary Deputy County Commissioner Echolls to you.
      Keith: (with sarcasm) Haha...

This quote is with reference to episode "One Angry Veronica" where Keith Mars reprimanded Logan for calling him "dude" by saying "That's Mr. Mars to you."

    • Veronica: Luck may be a lady tonight.
This is a reference to a song from the Broadway show Guys and Dolls, namely "Luck Be a Lady Tonight."

    • Logan: Her dad and your dad should get together and go bowling.

This is almost a direct quote from the 80's teen movie The Breakfast Club. Judd Nelson tells Emilio Estevez, "My dad and your dad should get together and go bowling." He's basically saying that even though their fathers are otherwise nothing alike, their defining characteristic, the fact that they are such bad parents, is their only true defining trait and that they are, in essence, the same. Logan uses the line because Keith Mars and Hannah's father both can't stand him.

    • Logan: When I dreamed of this moment, 'I've Had the Time of My Life' was always playing. Well, what can you do.
When Logan is being asked to dance by Veronica, he makes an allusion to the 1987 movie Dirty Dancing by referring to the song 'I've Had The Time of My Life' by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes. A song which played a memorable part in the movie, just like unlikely dance partners also did.

    • Mac: Is it me?
Beaver: No, it's the tater tots.
When Beaver tells Mac that his tater tots are making him sick, it's a passing reference to the 2004 movie Napoleon Dynamite. A movie where tater tots had a prominent scene, and where Tina Majorino, who plays Mac on Veronica Mars, starred. Majorino was also in the 1994 movie Corrina, Corrina, where her character 'Molly' asks: "Is Tater Tot Mr. Potato Head's son?".
