Virginie was a French-language program that aired on Radio Canada from 1996 until 2010. The show followed the character of Virginie Boivin (Chantal Fontaine), a physical education teacher at Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arch High School. It detailed her interactions with her fellow faculty members and students. During its run, Virginie covered topics such as divorce, prejudice, drug abuse and other issues facing Quebec. In 2008, Fontaine left the show and was replaced by Stephanie Crete-Blais, who played Virginie Charest. Like her predecessor, Virginie Charest was a P.E. teacher who was soon thrust at the center of the affairs of Sainte-Jeanne-d'Arch.
