Welcome to the Virtual Murder guide at TV.com. In this English mystery/detective show, Dr John Cornelius ('JC') is a university lecturer who also works for his city police force as a psychologist. He always goes beyond his work and tries to solve the cases himself. Samantha Valentine is JC's off-beat personal assistant and lover, while Inspector Cadogan is their police contact and Professor Owen Griffiths is Cornelius's long-suffering head of department.''''The show was filmed in and around Birmingham, England and has a big element of fantasy, something on the lines of The New Avengers - an approach to crime drama which by the early 1990s had gone out of fashion. Where else might you see Father Christmas cycling to a police station to empty a sack of bones on the counter?''''Alas, only one whimsical series of six episodes was made. Perhaps the show was swimming too much against the tide of gritty realism, but it was well made with strong casts and is long overdue for a repeat on U.K. television.''''A few unofficial DVDs of all six episodes are now in circulation - which begs the question of why it has not been issued on a proper basis yet.moreless
