Can someone please clear this up for me? I've been wondering for, like 20 years. This has been a much debated topic for Voltron fans, and there seems to be evidence of both sexes. I don't know why, but they made this character very gender-neutral, and I don't think it was ever made clear on the show what Pidge was: a very masculine girl, or a guy who wears a hair bracelet. But that voice makes Pidge sound more like a parrot than a human, so it's impossible to tell! Does anybody know for sure?

Unfortunately I don't know the exact episodes, but in several episodes Chip on the Vehicle team gets letters from his brother Pidge.

They also have a kid sister, BTW, according to Pidge. We never learn anything else about her, including whether she's biologically related to the brothers, another adopted child, or a biological child of the birth parents. She's stationed with Space Explorers on Planet Terra (which is another name for Earth, so that's always confused me exactly where she is). See the final scene in the episode Surrender for this reference.

I didn't realize this was ever a question.  Sure, Pidge was unusually short and had that odd voice, but I thought that the Voltron Force (minus Allura) were frequently referred to as boys.

Well, if Pidge had been a girl, it would've had some... "interesting" consequences, considering some of the animated sequences (there are shots of Pidge admiring Allura with hearts in his eyes, for example).  So, I think you can kind of see where I'm headed with this...

The ironic thing I find about this question is that Pidge's actor, Neil Ross, has played his fair share of little girls on the series for crowd scenes. Kind of like how Michael Bell played that woman whose brother was turned into a RoBeast during the Yurak episodes.

Did Neil Ross play little Tammy in the episode Surrender? That was some really bad voice acting who ever it was.

In that episode, did Tammy switch places with Pidge to trick Yurak in a prisoner swap while Pidge stayed behind to operate the green lion at the last minute? If so, that's the episode. I think it was on this week.

I never really understood why Ross and Bell played any female parts in the first place. While the show only had the two women on its cast, it's not like there was a dearth of parts for the guys to play, right? LOL
